    yes, probley bred a few off her.. oh well if shes still got in in her...
  5. they do sometimes ruffle the feathers up in the real cold to keep a bit warm, but what i did was mix a bit of extra maize in with their feed , as this maize(corn) is a heat food & helps keep them warm.

    7 yrs! wow that takes some beating! a local i know had one come back after 2 yrs, but 7! was it good in health rose
  9. alan, thats a great idea, my 5 yr old daughter annie, is really interested, in the birds, so when 1 of mine hatch i will let her pop it in and see what the teacher says, great idea alan.

  13. i wouldnt basket them next time, & just make sure they get no food when they eventually do go in, maybe they fear if they go in they get basketed all the time, so just try letting them trap with no food, then after a day or two, they should trap quicker if not first. just a thought as this happend to me. hope this helps
  14. very true, trying my best to get a few of martins (westys) friends into the sport. think there should be a 15 year old & under young fancier of the year, & a 17-18 young fancier of the year, as the 15 year olds & over have more time to put in as they are not at school.
  15. cheers mate, if its the right flecks/splashes im looking at :-/ they are the same colour as the mealy bars i will take a pic tomorrow, they are on all the light part of the wing feathers & tail feathers, i presume these are the ones

  18. carl, i just put 1 drop in each nest box floor every 2-4 days, or put a little bowl of hot water in a spare locked nest box with a couple of drops in. smells fresh..

HELP! i have paired the hen (mrs mealey) with another cock, she is well game & drops her draws for anyone, this mealy though (told it was a cock) as this pair came with a youngster unrung. but really begining to think now, got me so confused, put mr mealy with another randy cock & mrmealy fight, put with another hen & still fought each other, im just going to have to give this mealy back i think as im at my witts end? any last options before i do???? as i was told they have done real well for this lady? might try to break it? & race it. its an 03 bird?
