we are all learning alot from all the posts i also read alot from books & other websites regarding racing & pigeons, but its not saying that pigeons that are not treated dont win races or are going to get a disease from the basket (regarding races). i dont think its getting heated, just different views from peoples different knowledge, its all a very healthy debate just like my pigeons, very healthy, guess what silverdale got for christmas?? a microscope. lol only joking mate. ;D

well done pecked hen, if your logans lay within the next couple of days, you could foster them under the fantails. ;D just a thought.
-
great idea rose, going to build an avairy on the side of our loft soon
-
the secretary was the person to introduce me to racing, & he now pops up every weekend to have a chat, & has become a good friend with loaads of healthy advice

you aint throwing in the white towel yet?????? oh well just as it was getting fun ;D

not all flyers are jealous & selfish, some good flyers just want to have fun & get this sport open to as many new flyers as possible, & get some friendly healthy competition.

i would notice if any bird was off colour, if not me, westy would tell me, as young westy is up in loft (24x7) & notices that one of the feathers of a bird has fallen out, the slightest querey & westy is on the case. i think its called good loft management & love for the birds...

how many didnt treat?
-
carl, the secretary of the club myself & westy are joining never treats his birds, unless there is an outbreak in his loft, & has told me in the 40 plus years he has been flying he has treated twice, came 2nd in club & fed 2005 & the flyer who came first in 2005 lives 15 minites from me & also never treats unless there is an outbreak, but told me he treated in 2004. regards

im a novice myself, but very experienced in the outside world & sales gimmics, and a lot of fools fall for this again and again, your birds wont win nothing if you dont treat for this that & the other, hope this helps other novices like myself.

cant see inside myself too, i could be riddled with disease, but while i feel ok & work 7 days a week & still give my family & pigeons 100% attention, i wont take paracetamol just incase i get a headache.
-
if my birds didnt seem right also, i would then test my birds too, but untill that happens i will carry on & let the birds own immune system fight anything that comes their way, do u go to the doctors & get the flu jab? even when u dont have the flu? i dont & never get the flu, natural evening primrose ,codliver oil, all natural things i take & not very often ill

they all seem healthy, none dropped off their perches yet (shouldnt have said that lol) i keep a very close eye on my birds & i know i could tell if one is a bit off or not, my birds are very tame & i handle them at least every other day, & while handling them i examine them all over check throat, feathers, eyes, nostrills, etc,

ive noticed that the bob trap does slow them down sometimes, but what i tried & worked is removing the bob completley (making sure no stock birds inside) keeping them hungry they go straight through straight away, then next time add a few bobs 2-3, straight through again, then when used to this add a few more untill completly used to it, then its no problem, takes a bit of time but well worth it, can notice the difference in speed going through.

is there plenty of grit? as hens can become egg bound if egg shells to soft. i wouldnt breed from this hen again if this isnt the case, she could die.

will pm you now mickieb

why treat if your birds are healthy? only treat if they become ill?
-
some fanciers never treat unless pigeons actually get a bad dose, as they say pre treating puts a strain on their immune system this making them more prone
