Just because a club has a rule, it doesn't mean to say its all above board !!!
-
Sean, My advise would be to ask AT the meeting. Ask to see minute book, and also a copy of the club rules. Remember these rules should also have been ratified by the governing body ( Union ) as they may have 'by-laws' which could be in contradiction to the Union's standing. Best wishes Paul.

Sean, Words will not express the disgust I feel towards your so called 'clubmates' It may be very difficult to do, but stick it out. Gangster is right in advising to keep your cool. Your motivation is a point of principle, and nothing stronger exists. Fear not for the outcome....I am confident it will be in your favour, because you still have many avenues to go down with this case, should the need arise.....least of all the European Court of Human Rights....I think they would love this !!!!!! Stay strong my friend.....stay strong. You and your Son are in our thoughts. My Sincerest and most humble Best Wishes. Paul.

fancier of year
showman replied to jimmy white's topic in Website News, Views & Computer Related Info
I think Jimmys' posted reply no. 10 is about right. A few more things should be taken into account than a race co-efficient. Also, whilst we all try to encourage young people into any hobby/past-time we pursue, we should not forget those who are of a more 'mature' age. Support and encourage all ages, if they are new starters, is what I say. As some of you may remember, earlier in the year, I set up a new starters scheme to help new fanciers. This was carried in the BHW and the R.P., with details of my contact phone, address, mobile, E-mail etc. and to be honest, whilst I had a few offers from fanciers willing to help in all manner of ways, I regret not one single new starter, regardless of age took up the offer. I applaud the basic idea Jimmy...........and will be interested to see how the 'Forum' takes it forward. Paul. -
JUST HAD NEWS TODAY
showman replied to liverpool_boy's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
Agree with Alan, meeting was a non-starter, and totally out of order, if it was called under the banner of your club, Holytown. However, if it was just a meeting amongst fanciers to discuss forming a new club, and not under the Holytown name, I fear there is nothing that can be done. Advise you approach your region for next step. I sympathise with you Liverpool Boy, and hope it can be resolved in an amicable fashion. Paul. -
Like Westbury Lofts, I headed for E-Bay. Got an as new Samsung Digimax 230 with all the 'bits' for a mere £31.00 !!!! Had this camera before, but somehow misplaced same. Great camera, simple to use, and coming through E-Bay.........as cheap as chips !!! Paul.

All I want is a bit of R & R. My best wishes will got to you all over the Christmas period. Best wishes to all my friends in the fancy, especially the Scottish connections. A thought for those who serve their country, at home or abroad. A safe Christmas to them all. A continued sense of peace throughout this wee province of ours. And from Santa......to grant my wish that show racers are not looked on as being 'fancy pigeons' .....as a lot of fanciers still see them. Happy Christmas. Paul.

Hi Peckedhen, Using the old formula, of 1 pigeon per cubic yard of loft space, a 6'x4' loft should house 6 pigeons. However, with the addition of an aviary, this may be increased by, in my opinion 50%, leaving you with 9 pigeons. My advice for an aviary is that it should equal the size of the loft, and should have a roof. False floors are OK, but they should be at loft floor level. If you put your false floor in, say, half way up the side of the loft, you have stopped the pigeons ability to fly within the aviary. My floors are made from 1inch sqare section wire on 2"x2" rafters. This in turn is suspended 12" above a sand floor. Once a yaer the floor sections are lifted, the droppings raked off the sand, and hey presto, as good as new !! Two of my show lofts have aviaries, which are actually bigger than the loft. The netting used is 1/2 inch 'chicken wire' although given the chance I would change this to 1/2 inch square section. Mice can still easily get through 1/2 inch chicken wire, but not as easy through square section. The roof of each aviary is made from 'mini-wave' sheeting with a 6 inch over-hang. This allows plenty of light, but stops wild bird droppings entering. It also means that my birds get wet when I want them to, by supplying a bath, and not when nature dictates. One of my lofts is 8'x6' and has 12 Vee type perches installed. It has a 'verandah' running its' length. This is where I house my old cocks team for showing, and there are never more than 9 pigeons in there...they come into wonderful condition in this un-crowded environment. Hope this is of some help. Paul C.

Can't see there being a 'show' as such although due to primary investment Blackpool as an event will probably go ahead. I would doubt that there will be pigeons for sale either. Paul C.

Like you , Doostalker, disappointed that the 'show' part of the weekend had to be cancelled. :'( However, still looking forward to coming over and partaking of the great social aspect to the weekend, which will remain regardless. Look forward to seeing you all again, Best regards to 'two fishes' 8) Paul. P.S. According to my 'little black book' ......you first round, I believe !!!!!

There's meant to be a big show on in Dublin over 7 -8 November. Does any one know what the score is there, as son and I are supposed to be judging, and unfortunately we have no contact numbers !! Cheers folks Paul C.

I will be very surprised if racing pigeons don't top the poll !! Paul C.

Totally agree with your postings Fifer , Hyacinth and Bruno re - public awareness. Now here is something our governing bodies should grasp and take to the media. Unfortunately, I doubt if it will happen. It would be nice if a joint press release could be issued by 'our' leaders and would surely let the public know we are not irresponsible. I live in hope !! Paul C. P.S. Anyone fancy coming up to Dunoon for a bit of 'craic' and good company please get in touch with Doostalker. Old faces or new.....you'll all be welcome ;D
-
Agreed.
-
To a point I agree with what you say Fifer. Our governing bodies are often slow to react in such instances. However, when a 'ban' like this is enforced by a 'higher' power, they too must wait and see. The problem, as I see it, is that since the EU issued its' ruling, there has been a time delay in domestic legislation / ruling coming into force which allowed a lot of unsure comments to be made. Hopefully this should be clearer from Monday 31st, as it appears English & Scottish authorities were to have legislation in place from Friday past. Early talk of licenses for shows hasn't really helped either, and hopefully this 'grey area' will be cleared up at the start of the week. It's been a really frustrating time, with everyone being stuck 'between a rock and a hard place', not knowing the exact details of any domestic ruling. We can only wait my friend and see what tomorrow brings !! Sincerely Paul.

Thanks Webmaster. Sincerely, Paul.

Anyone seeking clarification of the Dunoon International Show should read the previous posting on this thread (Reply 373) placed by Doostalker. It leaves you in no doubt as to our position.

Silverwings, don't grow up !! Loved your verse immensely, great laugh. Paul.

Since my last posting, Bayview has contacted me to inform all Sct.East. SRS shows cancelled until further notice. Thanks Bayview for hasty reply, much appreciated. Paul.

Yuo've got this forum way wrong, Tam Pepper. It may suit your needs to make it into a political forum, but I think yu'll find the vast majority of the membership don't want that. If you want a political forum, why not start your own.......and see how many members you get.

Have just read on 'coming events' section for October, that Scottish East Show Racer Society has a show scheduled for 30th October. Anybody know what's happening there ?
-
Agreed, Rose, what is happening ? I think we can all agree we've kicked this idea around a fair bit, with interested parties having put forward their ideas and opinions. Maybe Webmaster can shed some light on the next move. Sincerely Paul.

I think Lindsay, I'd like you to expand on your comment and I quote ' I hope the people on this posting will be able to live with themselves when the local poultry farms go out of business because there has been no prove about pigeons catching it' I look forward to your next posting.
