your right, B12 is one of the few B vits it doesn't have in its compound. there can be trace elements but rule is that this is one vit B brewers yeast lacks. B12 is also known as stress B vit, and is great for the nervous system, so it won't hurt giving this to the birds in v.small doses.

Take it to a fellow fancier who would have it humanely destroyed, vets will charge you just to open the box its in. feral don't give in easy so if its got to this stage its probably best to put it down as sad as it is.

rubbish, brewers yeast is good but it is no way the best source known to man, where did you get that crap from Ian? and c'mon, dont beat up on oldyellow like that, he is only trying to help and hes not misleading anyone with his knowledge or findings so give him a break why dont you. :-/

yup its called a top-fermenting yeast or Saccharomyces cerevisiae, known to brewers as ale yeast. Not wise to use it as its live and will as you said cause a lot of problems for the bird, good advice from you oldyellow.

you can buy de-activated yeast called nutritional yeast and can be bought from all good health stores in a powder or dried flake format, most good brands will contain active amino acids and vitamins as part of its biological make-up so you needn't add any more vitamis to the birds diet because it will only sh** it out or worse store certain vitamins in the liver until it makes the bird ill or kills it.

nothing better than a good DVD to show them, it will save you having stage fright and there are some really good ones out there. as oldyellow said, a few coloured doos would go down a treat with the girls and perhaps a few VERY tame racers if you can get them. never baffle kids with too much science they will not be interested or soon lose any they had, go for the competitive streak found in all kids.
