    Help Needed

Evening all Just had a bird reported by a non fancier in Hottergate, Alnwick. Would really appreciate if someone from the area could collect the bird and I will make arrangements with them to come down and collect it next Wednesday. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Davy
  8. Well, bidding hotting up on Pipa. Some lots have closed however the rest are still going strong. These lads from China obviously have to much cash on the hip. Looks like the vast majority are going to China.
  9. I had a bird turn up about 3.00pm yesterday. I didn't recognize it at first as it would not come in, only flying between the house roof and the loft. I thought it was a stray as it was rung on the wrong leg from what I normally ring my birds however it was acting as if it knew it was home, and it did have a Tipes ETS ring on that our club is 1 of only a couple in Scotland that have this system. I eventually got the bird in just as it was getting dark and on checking the number I realized that I lost the pigeon at Witton Castle, 2011, at the young bird racing. This pigeon was immaculate when I handled it and has come through a very good moult for a bird that has been lost for so long. I can only assume that someone has had this pigeon in over the winter and may actually have got it back into the area or onto a transporter and had it liberated yesterday. It's a long shot however if anyone knows if SU 11 NW 2211 was one of the birds that was brought back North then it would be good to know. Or even if they know where its been for the last 9 months?? Cheers Davy
  10. Mr Mutley, there is no need to get emotional about it Just you remember you've got to drive through Plean to get to your work  And I'll no always be there to save you
  11. Sounds painful Lewis . That Jack Russell obviously has a similar temper to Mutley only a lot more intelligent :P Tell yer auld man I was laughing ( i mean asking) for him.

    Lurchers

You will obviously pick a cross that best suits your needs, for me it has to be the old favourite, collie x greyhound 1st cross. There not as sporty looking as most others however they are a fantastic all rounder whether it be lamping, long netting, coursing BIG RABBITS , pigeon shooting, rough shooting or even goose shooting. I have a cracking wee beardie 1st cross and she works well on all of the above putting most spaniels to shame. They will work all day and night. Good luck on your search,I am sure you will end up with character no matter what cross.
  19. Ally, Are you sure on the velocity of the 7th pigeon?? Not seen or club result yet however I mam sure T&M will be doing 1235.
  20. Cheers Martin... Just timed a yearling in the dark there at 11.04........I had to put the back light so it could see into the loft
  21. Tommy Blair, North West Fed, Stirling club.
  22. Looking At the forecast Sunday does look the better day for racing, however if they decide to try and dodge the showers with a south wind on the Saturday we will just have to take our chances. I sent 9, and that's the loft about empty.
  23. Stevie, if you read this message, give me a call on 07712 879 617 to arrange collection of the Belgian youngster. Cheers Davy
  24. Agree totaly, we realy need to take a step back and evaluate our postion if we are ever going to be able to move forward. One thought, and it is only a thought as the " mob flyers" would never allow it to get passed, is that all lofts are allocated a maximum of 30 rings each year from their respective organisation. These rings would be the only rings that the member could race mark thus ensuring that his breeding method is more selective. You could even allow them to race mark an additional say 6 rings that they have aquired from else where for those memebers that may be trying to introduce "new" blood into their loft. The first year or two the y/bird loses would obviosly improve based on the percentage of pigeons being raced and lost to date, however I do think you would see a significant improvement after year 3 and so on as the fancier is more inclined in only breeding off pigeons that are tried and tested. I wonder how many fanciers would then feel the need to fill a loft full of unproven stock birds?? I know the above will never come into play as it may actualy have fanciers leaving the sport fed up with having little youngsters left after year 1 & 2, and that is the last thing the sport needs. Couple that with the sponsarship we receive from studs, and the affect it would have on our many charity auctions as well as the potential increase in birdage due to fewer birds going to the races. As I said at the start, it is only a thought.
  25. Stevie, I am from just outside Stirling. give me a bell on 07712 879 617. Cheers Davy
