Is this open to any Federation across the Central belt??

Never raced the YBN however I may have a go this year, For the fanciers that do send to this race and score, do you find that these y/birds go on to make good old birds or do your better old birds come through y/birds that may have been stopped racing earlier in the programe. Also, for the fanciers that send, do you send your best to this race or do you send the y/birds that fel need to earn their perch for the following year,i.e. they have made mistakes at earlier races or their parents have been lost during the old bird racing. Just like your thoughts as I think people will use the race for different purposes.

Any update with regards the returns into Yorkshire??

I know we are seeing loses on a weekly basis at club racing however you have to question the actual liberation from Thurso yesterday. I believe that at least 3 convoys liberated yesterday so they must have had some positive information regarding a line of flight however where this information came from is beyond me. Central Scotland was completely closed in yesterday from very early on and it was even a chore running in and out of the loft changing water etc. As I said, you would think taht these experienced men would have called it right however the evidence states that they got it all wrong

Any idea as to how the GYA are doing in their race from Bourges?? I would have hoped by now we would have heard more than just the 2 birds, there must be more birds in Yorkshire at this time. If this is a struggle for the Yorkshire lads then we are going to have a long wait up here

Last time I spoke to Russell at Europa they had nothing back( back of 12.00 o'clock), he said they would put any arrivals straight onto the web site. Just checked the web site and as yet nothing updated so it's not looking good

Rasbull, I hope the produce the goods for you, however I would be a bit reluctant to fill a loft full of their off spring. You need to rember that the Europa racing this year was not difficult and the final race was only 250mls and the birds were tumbling in. If you are looking for a better nest pair in one loft racing you should look at the 2007 Europa race. BELG 07 6188574 .... 2nd final race and 18th Ace bird. BELG 07 6188575.....12th final race and 1st Ace bird. Both bred by Ed Sitner from his Kees Bousa pigeons. You need to also take into account that the 2007 race was a difficult race from 300 miles. I am not knocking the birds you have purchased as we all need to try something different and I am quite sure the breeder would have put them into the race from what he believes is his better birds. I don't understand why people are so concerned with the Central Scotland feds. If you are in possesion of any old results you will see that the Central Scotland feds competed very well in this Amal when it was last up and running, Even winning it :P

Delboy, if this is the partnership that are involved with Jan Theelans, then I had a bad experience a few years back regarding birds I purchased at their Blackpool sale. I would give them a wide berth in the future. If I have guessed the wrong partnership, then sorry, and ignore this post.

Thats when the scale of the disaster hits home, when you here of the likes of Fastline & Kate and other great pigeons still wanting. The pigeon of Tam Patersons ( Kate) was actually away trying to win her gold award based on the gold cup races as she has been on the result the last four years. Quality bird!!

I take your point with regards to the problems of having to get sick pigeons back into good health, however do you think it was a good idea selling these pigeons on to another unsuspecting fancier. You must have still had some doubts as to their health as you continued to spray the loft for a full month after? :-/ :-/

I think getting over the channel will be only the start of the problems. The Met Office forecast throughout most parts of Britain is for mist and fog in higher ground with rain and drizzle elswhere, with warnings of heavy thundery showers in many areas throughout the day and early evening. I hope you get a good race lads, however I think you have taken a serious gamble. All the best to those who have sent.

I had the same thing happen approx 6 years ago. Pied hen returned after roughing it for at least a yearI let her sit and moult out until the following year, she won 1st club on her second race. Had a Blue cock return from our young bird Open 2007, he returned January 08, he too had been roughing it. He went on to win 1st club in June 08. They ALL deserve at least one chance!!
