got to say my best race has always been the week before the snfc "gold cup" usually dorchester,maidstone or salisbury 350-380 mls,since 1983 we have won what we call the coast race 16 times in club racing taking top fed positions.the best spell, 1st club 1st section 1st federation open maidstone 1999 vel 976 1st club 1st section 1st federation open maidstone 2000 vel 980 1st club 1st section 1st federation open maidstone 2001 vel 1482 the year 2000 was definately the best,flown as an amalgamation race with lanarkshire federation with just under 2800 birds we were 1st,4th & 7th amalgamation timing 3 hens in under 10 mins in what turned out to be a very testing race,trying not to blow ones trumpet both myself and partner are very proud of these performances. :)

got one just out of race time myself,he took a position the following year,ended up 2 from 3 with a 7yr old hen turning up months later,terrible race,the national winner the" graduate " was the only bird lost the following year from a team of 12 entered by john bosworth. ;)

birds have been homing from races over 500-700mls for over 100 years flying into rabbit huts coal cellars and such like,i would like to think that any yearling of mine would be capable of homing into the west of scotland from 300-350mls regardless of the convoy be it fed combine or national,maybe this is what we need to get the birds sorted out,bigda get in about it. ;) ;)
