  1. Happy Birthday, welcome to the ranks of the 78 year olds Fifer
  2. Wait till you have a clock and then it is simple.Set up the system delete the former fancier and all his pigeons and then have your own particulars entered remembering to synchronise all the time.I have done this twice for members.
  3. 481 birds from Solway Fed to Ripon
  4. The above pigeon released in Douglas yesterday returned to Moffat!!! Anyone interested?
  5. Tell you what Mushroom you never received any anonymous call from me or anyone associated with me any input into the problems affecting the organisation of pigeon racing is always welcomed by me and I hope my committee.
  6. Apart from the members and club fees birdage is the only income that a federation has.The early races in both the old and young bird programmes yield a profit which allows the organisation to pay expenses such as maintenance of the transporter, replacement parts, tyres and refurbishment of racing baskets. The central question here is should the profit from early races be used to defray the cost of later races when other factors dramatically reduce the birdage. It might be that such a course of action is not too sensible with an eye to the future wellbeing of the Federation and I very much fear that a realistic increase in birdage to meet these costs would be answered with a total boycott. Finally it will be noted that tonight another rise in the price of diesel has been announced.
  7. Thank you for your reply.Any increase in birdage charges would be met with fierce opposition, I know it is a controversial opinion but our federation seems to die when the national races start and incidentally all sorts of different plans are made , discarded and remade during the winter I can tell you after four years in this job it is almost impossible to get pigeon fanciers to agree.
  8. SU10AV 2913 has spent three days in Moffat.I will release it tomorrow morning (9th.June) near Douglas hope it makes it home
  9. I should have made myself clear there are still several races that club members can go to with national organisations
  10. Just a question here.As the old bird club racing nears its end are federations justified on going down the road to complete the old bird programme when interest is almost mainly in National racing (and rightly so) .It is difficult to get a transporter anywhere near full and convoyer`s wage and diesel costs indicate a clear and substantial finabcial loss.
  11. Many congratulations Michael as well as to John Little,Jimmy Dalgleish and Kenny Thomson.I know how hard you work with the birds and you do the Solway proud
  12. Apologies Lindsay I did not know you had already introduced this sbbject
  13. Hi, I wondered if anyone on this site has any views on the advisability of racing this coming weekend during the current conditions with problems over Scotland due to volcanic ash expelled from the Icelandic volcano.

    The Scheme

I lived in Kilmarnock for 31 years much of it in Onthank and I agree fully with the last contributor the area is full of hard working decent people and the programme gives a totally distorted view of the Kilmarnock area.

  20. Several years ago I lost about three young birds to crows who got them when they were at the fledgling stage ,on the loft roof but not able to fly properly.I learned not to let my young birds out too early ,also I am convinced that the crows can hear the squeakers in the nest.
