YES used whole oats in the winter many times.It takes them a wee while to get used to it as the husk can irratate the crop better to indroduce it gradually to them ,some times ive used it 100% with no problems. I first saw it being used by Jock Allan in the winter many years ago.

I dont know where you live and how the BOP problem is but if you take 16 cocks 80mile to 100mile by themselfs in this area you will be really lucky to any left plus i dont think taking them that distance is needed 40mile is plenty.

Never had a pigeon die yet from fright with fireworks and half an hour ago my next door neighbour was giving it lalday in his garden with rockets etc etc right in front of my loft.

The cost to bring them back must cost more than the pigeons themselfs, looks far too expensive.

Doos cleaned out had the hens out today for a wee fly think they done about 30mins without any visits from the predators then shouted in. Trying to get them out more this winter if possible as i dont like them shut up too long and exersize can only be good for them.

I get YBS every year and ive tried everything to prevent it with no joy. I hear a few other fanciers say they never get it well that really baffles me to say the least, infact i dont buy it. How often are you using vanodine 18 mate ?? and by the way some fanciers widna know ybs if it jumped out there soup. I was reading somewhere that the virus which causes ybs (ADENOVIRUS)is spread through droppings and saliva and is also Airborne.
