  1. Congratulations Tony.

    returns today

6/8 from Falaise 137ml, lib at 9.00 got two together then had to wait 1hr 50m til the next.
  3. Portsmouth 08.30, Sunshine with broken cloud, cold NE wind
  4. They say every cloud has a silver lining, so after hearing that the Solent, BBC & BICC were all held it gave me a clear field to sit and watch Pompey's triumph on the telly and be able to go out and celebrate tonight. Play up Pompey
  5. Portsmouth 07.15 Full Cloud cover, but quite bright and clear, very light wind.
  6. When my club did the last update, because we all had pocket clocks we set up a seperate updated loft clock and updated the pocket clocks as they came in, prior to marking. They then updated each members loft base clock when they took them home. I dont know how this would work with just the base clock, will an updated loft clock update another loft clock ?
  7. Solent at Falaise
  8. My Club is using the FSS results software, whereby all clocks and birds are registered through FSS and not Club Manager. Has anyone using FSS experienced these problems.
  9. Have all these problems happened since the major 2.80 update with club Manager 2008 or have you had them in Scotland since ETS was introduced. I've had the 'unable to store loft number' error but the rings still registered. What makes rings acceptable at Club level yet unacceptable at National level.
  10. We have had five races so far, and, touch wood, it has gone OK. However I am not using the Unikon 2008 Manager, the Club's Clocks and birds are registered through FSS which is working very well and the electronic download of race info to the computer is a real time saver, as is the electronic downloading of RPRA Email distances. I've had the 'Unable to store loft No' error message but that has become a rarity since the updates. Our systems are all Unikon Champ with pocket clocks.
  11. 12/16 from Falaise with the Solent Fed, very hard struggle from across the Channel, 137 mls to me. Whether the rain at Caen held them up,or the heat, it turned out to be a long hard day.
  12. I've recently demolished part of my lofts (circa 1965) and purchased a stock loft from RVWoodcraft and customised it to suit ETS. It's 12X6, 8ft for the YBs and 4ft for some stock pairs.
  13. Solent up at Falaise 11.00am No Wind
  14. Portsmouth 09.30, much brighter now, sun keeps breaking through. These are live webcam, looking North about one mile due west of the Portsmouth lib site, the Harbour view is looking towards the Fareham libsite about two miles North. http://62.49.203.251/pagebuild/cam1/pagebuild.cgi?PAGE=../std-files/static2.conf&SITE=cam1&SUB=../br_oggle/vars.sub
  15. Portsmouth 08,00, Full cloud cover, bright, almost calm
  16. One of the biggest threats is the sanitization of everything, any keeping of animals, especially in urban areas, is lookes upon as unsuitable and a haven of disease by the 'authorities'. There will be a shortage of places to keep pigeons as all modern estates have covenants on them to stop people keeping so much as a budgie. Most fanciers started as kids with a few strays in a rabbit hutch, this doesn't happen now. Modern Mums wont let their kids touch animals let alone keep 'flying rats,' even if they could.
  17. My Club went for Unikon mainly because it can be used with the EastCoast Software which means you can automatically download Unikon times & details as well as manual input for thimble clocks. The FSS has an electronic distance input for each member using the RPRA Email distance facility which is another great time saver. All I do on clock checking is after printing the ETS race times I just connect each clock to the computer and download the info, brilliant!
  18. Solent went at 11.00 from Lessay, I got 13/15 so far, light S wind. A good start to the Channel programme.
  19. Portsmouth 07-15, sunny start, light SSW wind, hopefully a good day for our first Channel race from Lessay 110mls
  20. When do we ever have a 'level playing field, in sport ? Look at Bournemouth, struggling to stay afloat in the football league for the want of the sort of money that wouldn't pay for a Premiership player's arm. It an absolute waste of time trying to drag back progress, remember the anti-widowhood brigade. Any sport that doesn't move with the times, dies. And our Sport is struggling to survive anyway. One plus to come out of the ETS saga for those that want to stay 'traditional' is that you can buy decent clocks for very reasonable prices nowadays. If you are really set on the 'level playing field' (which defeats all ambition in sport) then enter your birds in one-loft races.
  21. Solent up at 11.45 Lt NE wind
  22. Sunny here in Portsmouth 11.45, No news yet on Solent Fed at Kingsdown (nr Seaton) but hopefully the good weather is moving westwards judging by the other South Coast libs.
  23. Pompey Mick
