not saying your birds arnt upto it mate, just a big step up for them from first race 78 miles, to 220 miles across the irish sea, and they will need to be super fit, and built up a bit, then i would personally not send them. but you do what you feel best mate, is there not a shorter race you can get them into first for the experience, and muscle tone? all the best with them either way mate :-)

bit of a step up from 78 miles mate, how many races they had, is it 220 miles to you? if they are fit enough they will be o.k i expect all my yearlings if healthy and fit, (not latebreds) to fly 336 miles (fougeres).

So sorry to hear of this damo mate, with respect, if they were starving and HEALTHY they should respond quickly, i had 1 that sat out for 2 days, and would nt eat when it did come in, so obviously something a miss with it, its gone now. shame you have no obs to bring them down, are they eating on the fields or anything? But if its the same birds, that are doing it constantly, then they have to go im afraid, they will never learn. Young birds are a pain at times, How do the others trap? like lightening? they need to know your the boss. Stick with it mate.
