  1. Brecon really closed in now and started to rain about 10am!
  2. Good video, and nice to see a good report on the convoyers! Looking at the video though, surely the design of the transporter is dodgy with the birds in the smaller transporter being liberated a full 30 seconds behind the ones at the top of the main transporter with the automatic shutters? Races can be decided by a few seconds so surely all should be let go at the same time? I know which transporter I would want my birds on!
  3. I will be sending 26 with the Rhondda Valley federation from Swindon! 1st Race of the year for me.
  4. Hiya Rob, they should be going Sunday if I remember correctly from last year. Share now sold!
  5. First things first - syndicate 1 pigeon has returned to the loft I have been informed by Russ and they are now missing 31 birds from the 1st hotspot. So good news as this pigeon has started very well indeed. Secondly we have secured another pigeon in the race and have setup a 6th syndicate. The bird in question was 4th yesterday in the hotspot and would have been in the prize money if activated. I have purchased this pigeon 30 minutes ago, have sold 3 shares and have 1 available. The cost of the share is £25. Anyone interested to contact me as first come, first served! Cheers.

Phew.....sorted my work out and now off so able to send! Had 17 tosses to date up to 35 miles so 26 will be going for my first race of the season!
  7. Mine have now had 17 tosses up to 35 miles (line of flight). Started with 44, dropped 10 in one toss (did only have 3 home by nightfall, rest come throughout the following 2 days) and 4 in another smash where they come in one's, two's and three's. Cat has had 2 and they are in the recovery loft, disposed of 2, so have 26 to send on Sunday! Fingers crossed they come ok!!
  8. Well the 1st Hotspot turned out to be a disaster for the syndicate birds. We have activated another 2 and they are now flying in our name. Details of share holders on the website. The birds were liberated at 6.45am with the winner recorded at 8.24am. The field of 1048 birds were then clocked over 3-4 hours to complete the 60 miles race! They have appeared to have hit trouble I would guess looking at the times and the way they have arrived. The syndicate birds recorded 710th, 728th, 753rd, 923rd! The pigeon that has been coming well in training has not clocked! I hope he makes it back but looking at the results it seems as though the birds that have not been doing that well in training are leading the result with the birds that have done well either missing or very low down the result! But hey, that pigeon racing for you. The important thing is we have 4 of the 5 still in the loft and every chance the 5th will turn up ready to fight on! The list shows close to 90 birds missing from todays race.

Thats a blow as working Sunday so will not be sending now. But if a better day on Sunday then fair enough! Good luck to those who do send. Another weeks training it is then for mine!
  10. Hiya Rob, he is going well at present but training is nothing its the longer races I want him to be doing well in! I am currently waiting for an email from Derek confirming the bird you will have a share in. Have to wait for everyone to decide if they are activating their own birds before the 2 additional share syndicates can be alloacted their birds. Have picked out 4 so hopefully 2 of these will be available and flying for us. Hoping to have it sorted prior to the hotspot tomorrow but as soon as I get the email confirming will let you know.
  11. Syndicate 1 bird was 20th in todays trainer, so has been in the top 35 birds 3 times out of the 5 trainers to date. The other birds were 527th and 808th but all within 2 minutes of the winner. The birds have been marked and the first hotspot is tomorrow from 60 miles. Needless to say Syndicate 1 bird has been pooled all the way and I am expecting him to go close!!

    Training Today

Mine just on their way to there 7th training toss in 5 days from 35 miles with my official loft trainer! Should be liberating them around 4.15pm and hoping they come well!
  13. My brother has some nice ones being grandchildren to most of the champions. It is his first year racing but they are coming well enough in training. I have one from him in my race team so hoping it goes ok! Hope they go ok for him.
  14. 174th, 363rd and 988th in todays trainer. The first 2 were within 90 seconds of the winner but the 3rd was 14 minutes behind! Think he must have stopped for a bit of shopping in Hereford before making his way back home!
  15. I am tempted but being the most northern fancier in the fed by some 20 miles like to ensure they are well and truly right before they go in a race. Otherwise my birds go straight through with the bunch and end up lost forever in the Welsh Valleys!
  16. The race is from Swindon 76 miles with the Rhondda Valley fed. I was late training my birds so they have had a hammering this week. They have had 6 in 4 days ranging from 16 miles - 35 miles with todays being the furthest at 35 miles. I feel I need another week to fine tune the birds but may send 4-5 to test the water to see how they are doing. Going for another 35 mile toss tomorrow and will make my mind up after that one!
  17. Well 3 trainers down and all 3 syndicate birds still in the loft. Todays trainer shows the birds being 434th, 493rd and 650th. The speed machine being the 650th bird home. Think he has found himself a girlfriend who is slacking at the back of the field and he has hooked up with her! I will instruct Derek to put him in isolation so he can forget about that floozee and get his mind back on the job!
  18. Just had a 16 miles toss and all 31 home safe and sound and in good time. Hope to take them again this afternoon to 27 miles if weather stays good.
  19. I think we have a speed machine on our hands guys! Syndicate 1 bird was 5th in todays trainer to go with the 35th he scored yesterday! The other syndicate birds were 103rd and 793rd. 1,035 birds clocked in today!
  20. Well training has finally started and pleased to report all 3 syndicate birds still in the race. In todays trainer recorded 35th, 367th and 878th positions - 1032 birds clocked in! The 2 new syndicates that have been formed are now both full and after discussion with the shareholders will be activating the 2 birds as soon as they come up for general sale.
  21. Just 3 spaces left at £25 a pop! I stress these birds in the 2 additional syndicates will not have not been bred by myself and will have been entered by another fancier! (Already decided whose birds we are going to select to represent the syndicate if and when they become available for sale! ) Anyone purchasing a share I am sure will not be disappointed by the fancier we have selected! Join and have a bit of fun throughout the summer for next to nothing!
  22. Hiya, I had a dreadful one the other day from 20 miles, finally ended up 33 out of 44. I think you can be as careful as you like but if you luck is out then its out! The only thing I would say is make sure they are healthy, flying well around the loft and have been ranging away from the loft. Take them small stages at a time. I started mine at 6 miles (anything less is merely insulting their intelligence and wasting petrol.) Ensure they are coming well from there and then try 12 miles. I like to double up on the distance when I increase the mileage. Take your time with them. Ensure good weather, good visibility and not a windy day. Avoid Saturdays at all costs what with racing already started. Good luck with the coming training!
  23. well after the drama of the last few days gave the birds a short 8 miles toss tonight to get their confidence back and pleased to report all 32 returned safe and sound and in good time! (The one the cat had didn't go and will be rested up until fully recovered!)
  24. Just had one more when I returned home from work although the cat has had him. 3 big holes in him and feathers everywhere. Managed to escape and just having some food, but looking very sorry for himself. So now had 33 out of the 44.
  25. Another 2 made it back just before the thunder and lightening started. That now gives me 32 out of 44 and if someone had offered me that last night I would have bitten their hand off!
