  1. nothing as yet and hammering down in Brecon!
  2. Amazed they actually went today thought they would have been heldover for sure! Velocity??? Around the 1220 mark I am going to for!
  3. Well I have ended up putting 15 into the tomorrows race. I think the weather is improving all the time and it is looking good for an 11am - 1pm liberation. Good Luck to all who have sent. Lets try and post early times on here tomorrow!
  4. The Europa birds trained from 35 miles today and all clocked with 35 seconds of the winner. Their positions were 125th, 133rd, 137th, 319th, 332nd and 349th out of the 900 that timed in. I believe this weeks Hotspot is going to be from 160 miles and they will go on the first nice day. I am hoping for a big performance from the syndicate birds as they have been improving rapidly as the distance increases so far to date.
  5. I agree Ant, can't see them going Monday and Tuesday looking not too clever either! They should cancel it and move the programme back a week! JMO but whats the point trying to race Monday when they could be stuck in the basket until Wednesday and half the fanciers are working anyway!
  6. Opps, just checked my own and it says - Maidstone, Newbury, Folkstone, Lillers, Swindon, Swindon. Is that the correct preogramme? I have just spent the morning re-doing my A/leaves in work based on the programme I mentioned first which is wrong! Oh well will keep me busy tomorrow changing it all back!
  7. Is it? I have down Maidstone, Folkstone, Newbury, Lillers, Swindon, Swindon! Mind saying that I had a look at a race programme last week at the club and was certain I saw 2 Newburys still to fly so that would be the missing one! So what is the programme as it stands now then as the one I have appears to be wrong!
  8. At the moment it is Sunday for Monday but as mentioned the better day now looks to be Sunday! Monday not looking too promising and with the Folkstone race on the following week could be a tricky one for members who are sending!
  9. Break your jaw??????
  10. he has done so but I am curious as he is racing against me so I need to know what I am up against!
  11. My mate has purchased 6 youngsters from A&J Grantham from Snaith, Nr Goole in East Yorkishire. Has anyone got any information they can pass on regarding this fancier so I can pass on to my friend? Cheers
  12. Todays 4th Hotspot from 110 miles was a great success for the Syndicate birds with 3 being in the top 65 and all within 5 seconds of the winner! All 6 syndicate birds have returned to the loft and their positions are 37th, 54th, 65th, 175th, 521st and 646th from the 925 that were in the race. The birds are improving with each Hotspot and below shows the improvement they are making as the distance increases! 06601 - 1001st, 681st, 207th and now today 54th! 06607 - 710st, 851st, 124th and now 37th 06604 - 728th, 318th, 197th and now 175th 04668 - 753rd, 566th, 145th and now 65th So all looking great as we start to get to the real distance where the cream rises to the top and leave the also rans behind! I have every faith in the syndicate birds and believe they will not be letting any of our shareholders down come the final race!
  13. Just had my missing youngster return from yesterdays training toss. It has suffered a broken ankle. Any tips on best way to deal with it? There is nothing to splint really so just going to leave and hope it heals up. Anyone got any other ideas? It is the ring leg and is quite swollen so will have to observe the ring doesn't become too tight with the swelling
  14. I am hoping to put in around 14 but will check the weather nearer the time as my little boy has his 3rd Birthday party in the afternoon and not going to miss that for the world. If they get away early will be ok but if not going until later in the morning or midday could be in trouble!
  15. How many birds are the welsh flyers putting into this race and what do you reckon the birdage will be? Also do you think the birds will go on Sunday?
  16. Todays trainer was from 50 miles and all 6 syndicate birds timed within 2 minutes of the winner. Their positions were 221st, 233rd, 240th, 284th, 378th and 387th from the 900 that were timed in. The 4th Hotspot is being flown tomorrow from at least 110 miles and hopefully 160 miles depending on the weather. I hope they manage to get to the 160 miles point as the birds really need to be stretched and spaced out in the result. They will inform tomorrow where the race is from once the weather has been checked in the morning. Good luck to all syndicate members for tomorrows hotspot!
  17. Training is going to be stepped up this week in an attempt to fully test the birds. They went from 70 miles today in the trainer and I think they are hoping to get a 120 mile toss into them sometime this week as well, on top of that they also have the Hotspot on Friday from 160 miles!! This is what you call testing them fully and that is why for me this One Loft race is second to none. Anything that is left standing has well and truly earned their perch! The positions were the worst we have had for some time however with the syndicate birds (this after a good 3rd Hotspot for the bulk of our birds) but as long as they are still there for the big one, that's what counts. Our positions were 119th, 232nd, 646th, 714th, 732nd and 825th from the 887 that were timed in! All 6 birds were timed within 9 minutes of the winner so nothing in it really!! I am hoping our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th bird had eaten too much from the 3rd Hotspot return and were uninterested in racing home and a little bit fat after their feast! We will see what tomorrow brings...but for now at least we have 6 syndicate birds still live and kicking and our odds with loses are improving daily!
  18. Just cleaned all the lofts out. Now got to mow the lawn and then will sit down with a beer and fag and wait for my 19 young un's from Guildford....Per-fick!
  19. The 3rd Hotspot was raced today with a reduced distance. Instead of the planned 120 miles they ended up 25 miles shorter at 95 miles. The reason for this I am not yet sure of, but will more than likely be due to the weather. The birds recorded 124th, 145th, 197th, 207th, 593rd and 792nd out of the 946 birds that were sent. Our first birds was 22 seconds behind the winner, and our first 4 were timed within 2 minutes of the winner. Even our last bird was clocked within 9 minutes of the winner. Looking at the results the birds have had so far it is very pleasing to see that the birds results for the majority of the syndicate birds are improving each Hotspot they are sent. 06601 - 1001st, 681st and now 207th 06607 - 710th, 851st and now 124th 06604 - 728th, 318th and now 197th 04668 - 753rd, 566th and now 145th So very promising as the race distance increases. All 6 syndicate birds still in the loft after the 3rd Hotspot and what we need to remember is that these Hotspots are bonus races and they were entered in an attempt to win the big one! They appear to be getting themselves into better form as each week passes and that is a good thing!
  20. welcome back to the sport! I am sure someone will be able to help you out! Good Luck
  21. I know my club mate trained his from Hereford today, and only had 4/20 let his go round the time the Europa birds were in the area. They were liberated at Pontrilas at 9.10am and back in Newport by 9.47am so if around the 9.25am mark I would say yes definitely the Europa birds!
  22. Will sleep like a log mate! Never worry....if they are good enough they will be there or there abouts! If not there not worth losing sleep over!
  23. Panic over! All 6 syndicate birds have been marked for the 3rd Hotspot from 120 miles for tomorrow! 946 birds in total have been marked and will take to the starting line! Cheers guys for the support! C'mon the Rockets!
  24. I have entered the Europa for the last 2 years. I personally think it is by far the best. Both in terms of testing the birds and returns from the main race. The prize money is also good from the Europa Classic. However, I think the best for information and updates from one loft races comes from the South West One Loft race. Richy Elliot has a blogger on his website and it is updated nearly every day with information and news. So for me No.1 has to be the Europa and 2nd is the SWOL race. JMO
  25. Training today from 35 miles and only 5 of the 6 syndicate birds have timed! The missing bird is the pigeon sitting 2nd Ace Bird overall after the 1st 2 Hotspots! I have no idea if the bird was sent on the trainer or if it has returned late after the result was printed. The 3rd Hotspot is tomorrow so the birds will be marked for it later on tonight so will have to see if the bird appears on the Marked List for the race. The other 5 however, were once again all timed within a minute of the winner to record 131st, 256th, 297th, 392nd 463rd from the 916 birds that were timed in.
