    first egg

Almost sure to be grizzle's Hope it all goes well
  4. Funny how it affects us in different ways. Inland means nothing to me, but over the water! I just can't settle till we've clocked, and at 600mls plus that can be overnight. What a nightmare but its what I love.
  5. Well mate I have to say I love me Rugger even past me prime at 44 kind of think you may need to find another interest as the birds may become an obsesion but at the end of the day you're at the end of the garden not the end of the long arm of the law best o' luck mate
  6. Like to put all my babbies on the floor and make sure they pick up before moving to young bird section. They kind of form a kit before they can fly
  7. May be OK using brothers and sisters. But my brother and I play Rugby, All we have in common is we are both fair players. Buggerd if we play alike. Diferent shapes and skills. Like you our birds show some variation but less each year. Select what you like the birds to do. I think with time they start to show some similarity. Ours are starting to look the same. No introductions this year, and they will all go to 600miles, for two year olds, and 500 for yearlings. I know they may be thin on the ground next winter but ???????????
  8. I MUST BE A BLOODY LUCKY BLOKE THEN
  9. Beanz. What I'm trying to say is keeping them fit and healthy and well motivated doesn't make my birds faster. They just perform well at the distance. Bloke up the road beats me hands down inland. 200/300miles fair race. 350miles its all my way 500/600+ he don't go there.
  10. Well done mate
  11. Bath 85mls but we normaly jump in a week later Wincanton 102mls
  12. So if health and motivation is the key to speed. do you think they don't need to be healthy and motivated to fly for 13 hours plus???????????????????
  13. Like the dark hen mate. Babbies look nice too. Hope they do ya some good.
  14. If only I could help. Can tell you how to put 'em out to 5/600 miles and get 'em but as for speed?????????????????????????????????
  15. Will happily donate a pair : From G sire 13th sec NRCC Perth 21st sec NFC Tarbes 634mls, G dam 8th sec NFC Bordeaux 517mls, Sister to the sire 2nd sec MNFC. Probably be Barless. No Guarantee as they aint been bred yet. Wont be keeping any young birds this year.
  16. Have to say Stuarts advice sounds best to me. Rugby and pigeons are my life. At my age my wife knows exactly where to find me after a game cos I don't much after six ish. Saturday 52 weeks ayear easily found.

    shell i keep

Any colour can win. We have a nice black hen that's done well and breeds well the barless youngsters when paired to a red cock are just what every fancier wants. Good looking winners!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Tiz a shame but a chap round the corner from me had 38 fancy pigeons stolen last week too.
  19. Certainly like me Tarbes pigeon back. Think I could console myself with Michelle Marsh though.
  20. Sounds like the only way to select good birds to me. Just make your targets harder every year.
  21. Go for the Ivermectin mate. Then you can be sure that at least you have no mites. One spot every four to six weeks.
  22. Just carry on as normal and look to those who organised good racing last year. MNFC and NFC are out then.
  23. When you find out let me know will ya cos when I buy sprinters they all end up as distance birds
  24. peterpau

    Stock birds

Must be missing some-thing then cos I wouldn't dream of treating stock birds

    dj,s update

Breed from them before you let 'em go as they are likely to want to go to where they've nested in the past
