  1. Mine go 10 mile 3 or 4 times then to 122 miles. if you can go 10/20 miles 3 or 4 days then just bang 'em in mate. Our fed start this weekend we'll be on a Rugger tour in Devon. Our birds have had 2 chucks at 20 mile. Then when we get home, they go racing whatever.
  2. 70% of my loft are from Krauth Aarden and a touch of Spangle. The old breeds are still OK by me.
  3. Hey Rose thats given me a great idea for a new chat up line. Ive always been a foot fetish man.
  4. Mate our first chuck all back before us. Don't over do it till it warms up.

    ETS

The only thing wrong with ETS is I had to buy inferior clocks 'cos we weren't alowed to use it. Bah Humbug
  6. Treat 'em with care mate. Our hens have had two chucks at 20 miles, and hope the cocks get there second today. That'll do me.

    Reminder

Hope your boy's ok my eldest had a stack of opperations in that region, but it all works well now. He makes me jealous. Couldn't pee straight, but now.
  8. How's that barless mate
  9. Don't think distance is the main concern. Weather the main decider for me. would be happy to go 150 miles with the right weather. We normaly start at Taunton 122 miles and miss the first two from Bath. This year however the birds are ready now. If the weather were good we would send to the first race next week.
  10. First toss today 20mile south west wind 18c all home before us.
  11. Mick it sounds great but. I resigned from NFC because of the shabby way the new transporter was aquired, the diabolical liberations at Pau/Saintes etc, huge hike in birdage costs. No I have to conclude NFC is not being run well. I do have to appologise, for you, seem to put a great deal of effort and good thinking forward. This year our birds will go with BBC and BICC. We know we will be up amongst from Tarbes, Bordeaux etc Palamos will be a new challenge and prices will be a big insentive. BYE BYE NFC & MNFC. Just as an asside MNFC rules. Promote distance racing. Provide one race over 451 miles. They just ignored there own rules last year.
  12. The thing with the pigeon from under the bridge. Ancestory unknown but she was the foundation of the loft. As for the mother of my 21st sec Tarbes 634 miles 13th sec Perth 297 miles. A stray. Mother of 2nd sec 20th MNFC another stray. Last year we had birds from FIVE different National winning lofts. The two strays are now stock.
  13. Keep mine in race days but i know a boy who used to take 'em to the cattle market and let 'em out with the race birds as a trainer
  14. Think they will need at least one chuck of half the intended distance. 400 mile race 200 mile trainer. Also like to do double the intended race distance in training 400 mile 40 mile 20 times. Tam I would like to think what you are looking at is possible. What I've said is my method but I would think it could be done. You should be looking at a ten hour fly! So if you can get them eneough miles with short recovery times then why not. Failing that should you be able to get them to me I would chuck 'em out for you. best o' luck.
  15. Pure Krauth hen here mate wish I had a loft full like her, daughter 2nd sec 20th MNFC.
  16. If I get sick I go to the doctor. When we had an extention we had a builder. When we move house we will see a solicitor. When it comes to pigeons, we follow the advice of Dr Colin Walker. Top Australian pigeon flyer and vet. Maybe that makes me a bloody sheep too. Then there aint many birds for my pigeons to follow.
  17. The vet Dr Colin Walker recommends treat once a month. Started to do this and it worked well, but now treat less often now I am confident with the quality of birds we have.
  18. chrissy try and get the book Pigeon Health Management by Dr Colin Waker an Australian vet. Go on the Racing Pigeon web site. No "antibiotics" but the best treatment routine I've ever seen. Your birds will always come into contact with birds that are not treated, and carrying infections that they've not encounterd so why wouldn't your birds pick up infections?
  19. Didn't anyone notice tedweb says its heading into autumn and he's getting ready for the winter races. Many may lock'em up in winter but if racing is in the winter one fly a day would have to be eneough. It must be very different racing in the winter to a loft lit in the dark.
  20. Andy don't lose any. First toss at ten miles. 60 miles any direction thats another story. When racing though lose very few again. At seasons end would expect well over half, all done the progam to 200 miles.
  21. Maybe a good idea to look at the orriginal pedigree's for Rutter bros. Something like: Hen found under the railway bridge???????????????? As for selectig a bird, I always think the best looking bird is, the one that drops late in the evening when no one else has one.
  22. We reported a youngster last year that we bred both parents to it
  23. Used to start at 12 miles gonna go 15 this year
