In the hope that they realise the decline in garden birds is due to the protection orders on the raptors!

I decided to give my birds some hemp in the hope it will 'fire them up a bit'. I'm getting very impatient for eggs! The local pet shop can only offer me hemp that fishermen use and were unsure if it would be OK for pigeons. Any ideas on this please? Peckedhen :-/

I've just got my first two eggs (fantails). I read that the hen sits for the evening and night and the cock from about ten in the morning. Its amazing - they do!! Fascinating .....how do they know when to change over? It will be interesting to see what happens as the days lengthen.

LOL ;D ;D Yes, I've bought some rings but I haven't got as far as plastic eggs yet...plenty of golf balls here...will they fool them? One question.........are the birds supposed to sleep together in the nestbowl/box? They don't seem to - one is in each box and the other on the door perch. Last night I put them all in the box and shut them in but I'm not sure whether I should just leave them or not? :-/

LOL thanks guys. BINGO! All six are paired now!! I'm starting them on a breeding mix tomorrow ....is there not a pigeon aphrodisiac I can give them? ;D

Two pairs aresettled and know their own box now. I've put the other two birds in, the cock is sitting in the nest bowl, the other bird is perching on the flap in front of it but not going inside....any ideas if this one is a cock or hen? I daren't shut them in togather in case they fight......... :-/

Walking to school in thick pea soup fog. Teacher making me sit in a scratchy coconut mat as a punishment for being late. Accidentally breaking two eggs on the nature table but not owning up to it. Dripping sandwiches. Going to my aunts on Boxing Day and taking our Labrador dog and 13 puppies with us.... they got into the kitchen and ate all the cakes on the bottom tier of the tea trolley! Playing in melted tarmac and getting in stuck in my hair!

I tried it Jimmy, when they were moulting. I used olive oil to bind it to the pigeon mix but I don't know whether it made any diference or not!! :

IT WORKED!!! ;D I've got two lots paired now in the breeding loft. The remaining two are either two cocks or are not sure what to do! I've put them in the young bird loft for the time being and I'll watch and hope that they pair. Thanks for the advice. Peckedhen
