  1. A cat's litter tray makes a good bath for one pij. A crushed garlic clove in the bath water will help to get rid of any feather lice on him. Let him have a few days outside confined to his 'loft' before you release him. Even better if you could put his loft in the guinea pig run so he can go in and out of it and always put his food in his 'loft'. Sue
  2. I put them in at ten days as my birds sometimes lay when the ybs are 14 days.
  3. Tmbarra I did this with mine, yet two pairs chose to lay in the same nestbowl as their youngsters!!
  4. Awww, he is beautiful - don't tempt me! How old is he?
  5. Yep. Lock her in the box, when she lays the second egg she'll sit them.
  6. Thanks, lovely birds, will they always breed pure white? I wish I could get mine as tame, I don't think it's me :B None of my Logans like being handles but my fantails fly to me when they see me. :-/ :-/
  7. Nice full crops on these babies.
  8. Mine always go onto the loft floor at around 17 days - as long as I can put six or so down at once. I think they come on quicker this way. :-/ :-/
  9. Lovely dovecote. How do you keep the birds on the dovecote as opposed to your house roof? Mine nest in the cot but spend all their time on my roof where I can't see them!
  10. Well, I think the thanks should go to Duncan - what a lovely surprise for you. I'm glad that you are so pleased with them. Sue
  11. No worries Roland.
  12. Have they laid the second egg yet? If you move them after the first egg and lock them in the hen will usually lay the the second egg in the bowl and then they'll sit them. I haven't had any success at moving two eggs even a few inches and they've come off them. This year, for the first time, two of my pairs laid in the same bowl as the youngsters, this was despite there being a second bowl in the nest box for them! I tried moving the babies over into the other bowl but they kept going back in with the eggs! The eggs would have got broken so the babies had to go on the loft floor! If you do put babies down on the floor always put down as many as you can at once. That way the cocks don't knock them about.
  13. What are the birds you got from JakJak? They don't look like Logans???
  14. Hey, to my inexperienced eye he looks a tad better - his wattle is more white and, does he look less puffed up? I think so. Did Stu tell you how to give the yoghurt? I put a teaspoon in with the seed, mix it up and then give it to mine. They actually make less mess as they can't toss it around! What do you think to naming him after his rescuer?...'Invalid'
  15. Nice one Stuart. Welcome David/Invalid :) Glad to hear the bird's eating. Sue
