  1. Thank you for caring. If the bird doesn't yet have the strength to make it's way home it may well come back to you for another meal - keep your eyes open!
  2. How did miss this one? Hope you had a great day guys.
  3. Have a great day old man.

Thanks John, I could easily add a perch, I'll give that a try. Too stressful for me Lindsay - I can't cope with loosing them!

I'm 100% sure it was the hen that did it - just not sure where or why! I have finished breeding now but will give her one more chance next season - she hasn't done it on the first couple of rounds this year. She isn't even a particularly keen hen...now, if it had been the hen from the top box I could have understood it - I hate putting my hands near her - she jumps out of the nest and runs at me - she grabs hold of my skin and will not let go - ouch!! :D

I cant be 100% sure Phil. It is the bottom two boxes and, with retrospect, I should have had them higher off the floor - the YBs could have been out then gone back in their own box but I don't think they would have done it three times?! In my YB loft, which I use for breeding now, I have the plastic boxes like Old Guy, but the birds prefer the floor so, I have nests and youngsters everywhere and none ever get scalped - the hens will accept four or more YBs all crammed in the nest with them and never bother.

Thanks Phil, I couldnt sell them when one looked like this. I have a rogue hen in the loft - she scalped the nest mate to Scalpy this weekend and it was so bad it had to be put out of its misery. It is the third time she's done it and I can only think she is going in the wrong nest box and thinking the YBs are intruders. Shotgun Tim - the fastest on the trigger!

Two white Logan YBs ready now. These babies are very well reared, one has been slightly scalped but will be fine once the feathers grow back in. Free to anyone who cares to collect or arrange courier. I'll get a photo up later today.
  11. Hey, no need to shout at me! Cosmic is quite new to this and I didn't want him to have hungry young 'uns.
  12. Feed the new ones you're getting separately for a while as they are only just weaned and won't be able to eat fast enough to keep up with the others. When I wean, I leave the food with them 24/7 for a couple of days till they get the hang of it. No doubt others will do it differently but, with my babies I don't want them hungry!! I can always cut back on the food later to get them to trap when I call them.
  13. These 6 birds are sold now. I do have more youngsters ready over the next few weeks if anyone else is interested in adding a bit of white to their loft or keeping the other half happy.
  14. Sorted, thanks guys.
  15. It was on the old forum but looks as though it's gone a bit wonky now! http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/topic/9325-selling-experiences-negative/

  21. Ask your school/teachers to complain to the exam board. Do you need to pass this to do a degree?
  22. It's not my postcode. It had to have a postcode to show what I meant re the views from NSEW - it only works on certain parts of the country. :-/
  23. YES!! Found it at last. It was About my Place but the 'birds eye view' is only over certain areas so far. Cracking image where it is - you can have a gander at everyone's lofts! ;D ;D ;D http://www.aboutmyplace.co.uk/showmap?id=995627&type=postcode&search_location=BB9%206eb Thanks to everyone who tried to help me.
  24. Great photos, great whites.
  25. I am so saddened to hear this Andrew. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. WHY GOD TAKES CHILDREN When God calls little children to dwell with Him above. We mortals sometimes question the wisdom of His love. For no heartache compares with the death of one small child. Who does so much to make our world seem so wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold. So he picks a rosebud before it can grow. God knows how much we need them, and so he takes but few. To make the land of heaven more beautiful to view. Believing this is difficult, still somehow we must try. The saddest word mankind knows will always be Good-bye. So when a little child departs ,we who are left behind, Must realize God loves children. Angels are hard to find! (Author Unknown) Sue
