I would not use a waterbase paint,it may dry quicker but as mentioned looks horrible when stained up, I would say if u were going to paint [use a oil based paint,] with plenty of time for drying, + can be wiped

joe61 , I would say tapeing up a ring is tampering with it,and while a 2009 ring is on its leg thats its age so lads and lassies write to your region Sec and they should take it further and hopefully by next year get it stopped
