Tammy - All I was doing was offering proof that you dont; have to keep hoards to be reasonably successful that's all. We're not the best fliers in the world - I know that - we're not the cleverest either- I know that too. But we DO do pretty well considering the numbers we can keep & the time we can put into the birds. If people have an issue with that then that's their issue - not mine. Doubtless there'll be other lads who do very well and keep a small team. I'd welcome their thoughts, systems and advice as much as the next man because they deserve respect. By the way - agree that if you're gonna fly distance & fly in Nationals regularly then you need a strong squad of numbers (both quality & quantity) - that's not our game though. I like the shorter races

Couldn't agree more For the last 2 years our average entry per race has been less than ten yet we've come out of it with 29 x 1st, Worcester Federation Bird of the Year, West Midlands sprint Champion, 2nd UK RPRA National Sprint Champion and 1st Open North Midlands Continental Yelverton - winning by 9 mins 59 secs. Like I said before, if you've got the tackle then you're half way home

Principally life becomes a lot easier when you get really good pigeons. They actually respond to your techniques & make life a whole lot easier - we hardly ever won a card before 1981 but by the mid-late 1980's were Highest Prizewinners of an enormously strong club. Our racing methods never changed dramatically - but the inmates did. It's all about never standing still & never settling for second best

I never tarred anyone with any brush - if you wanna in interpret it in that particular manner then that's up to you - not me. I had no-one in mind - it was a sweeping generalisation because I think there's a lot of crap passed on at this time of year. Don't you agree ??

Albear I've only sold pigeons for no more than 2 or 3 people - and I've been asked by 20-30 in the lastv few months atl east. When I know they're genuine pigeons from genuine lofts who race in good, strong healthy competition & they can be marketed at a fair price then I see no harm in passing good pigeons on. It should be noted though that I don't gain ONE SINGLE BIT from it. I do it purely to help the seller out (whom I tend to know) and any prospective purchaser 'cos I know they'll be getting the business. What does pi$$ me off a bit is seeing guys advertising pigeons for more money than they are worth often with little or precious little creditable performance to their name If that aggrieves you albear then i'm sorry - but for me its a fair shout

Hi Beanz Well, there's always some pleb out to try & make a few easy quid. Thankfully there's some genuine lads around still. Painter flies in a strong club. They send 400+ birds a week - not one of these little tinpot clubs with 6 or 7 fanciers in it. I know blokes advertise regularly on here who race against competition but we send more out of our STREET than they do in their club!! Not only is Painter's club strong the Fed is strong too. Worcester Fed often sends 5,000 birds + and the Wolverhampton is bigger than that!! They don't sell many but I know an Irish lad won 1st National, 1st EDC or 1st NIPA with their birds this year.
