Identification of agent: avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV1), pigeon variant.
Date of first confirmation of the event: 22 September 2006.
Date of start of the event: 18 September 2006.
Location of the outbreak: Pompaire, Deux Sèvres department.
Number of animals in the outbreak: 5,250 susceptible animals. All has been destroyed.
Description of affected population: fattening pigeons.
Laboratory where diagnostic tests were performed: AFSSA reference laboratory (French Agency for Food Safety), Ploufragan, France.
