    I'm Baffled

I had a strike a few weeks ago and lost a stock hen ,but never seen them again ,it,s crying out Percy , but why are the birds flying like they are ,seem to be enjoying there selves , usually when Percy is about they are jumpy and fly very low near a big tree about 100yds away , they are up high clapping about . It's a strange one . Ps I have a starting gun that fires a hilti type cartridge it's like a shotgun going off , from tiger ,which I have all set and sits inside my back door .

    I'm Baffled

Had a call today at work , the yearling hen lost off top last night reported at RSPCA place in Hamilton , was picked up in Clydebank last night , it's got a dodgy wing , a big thank you to big alf for going to pick her up for me , bird now safely home and back on her eggs . I wonder what happened to her , from flying round loft with team to being found on street injured over 10 miles away ?????????.

    I'm Baffled

Rab your thinking the way I am , Sundays toss Percy prob at them ,so had them spooked , out yesterday ,one hen gone ,Percy at them again.? So again spooked , def nothing at loft scaring them , even when they land the are caroooing around etc not jumpy or anything , and I've had them fly and fly homing from races sometimes 20 mins half an hour , but this is 3. 4 hours they are up , but in saying the above about Percy , they are dots in sky at times during their stint , usually if Percy strikes they go very low near roof tops and trees , I'm still baffled , think I will keep them in for a few days ,let them settle down .
  15. Went training on Saturday after race from 25 miles , lost two l,breds , birds a bit scattered , went Sunday same place , birds well strung out lost a two yr old hen and a yearling cock both trained the day before , but the thing that baffles me is when the main batch homed most of them around 12 of them flew and flew for almost 4hrs including toss time ,some were over 4hrs , kept them in today till 15.30 let them out up the went most doing 45mins and back on loft , but the ones that were up the day before kept going again some for 3hrs plus , one a two yr old cock was up for 4 hrs 5 mins and the last one a yearling spare cock only landed just short of 5 hrs , ps the weren't away sitting as I sat and watched the the whole time . Oh and I'm a yearling hen down. , that was my second bird from Sundays toss , any thoughts guys ? Ps while they were up others were on loft / ground back and forth up and down u name it ,but birds didn't want to land .
  16. Far toooooooo cold just now andy , we won't be going till 10 at earliest .from Dunbar .
  17. I'm with you on that davie , I will not send if there are others going up with us traveling in a different direction , this has been a fantastic race since it's inception , why change it or take a chance and spoil it . Madness IMHO.
  18. Agree 100% rab never boiled water , kills of the Alisyn (spelling). I crush two big or three small cloves in a crusher , put them in a small coke bottle 500mls , leave it for a week , then I put it in the drinkers I use about half the bottle , then I top it up. And put in a new clove each week , oh I forgot to say I shake it vigorously. Every other day . And keep it in the fridge .

  22. Drive and park your car mate , done it last year to Tenerife , cost about £40 for the parking , and it was about 1/2 mile to the airport .
  23. Not very nice rab . You didn't like it when they all came on and did it way the teddy bears .
  24. Thanks for that Gareth , the reason I asked was I've seen comments about bad locations etc , didn't think it was that bad in your fed compared to ours , think Glasgow is a more of an east to west fed the first drop being in Coatbridge the last apart from ally mac in Oban is guys in cove think around 25/30 miles east to west .
  25. I know Lanarkshire is a BIG fed , but how big is it really ? From east to west in miles and from north to south in miles. Thanks ?
