Morning all,the coldest so far,even the loft doors where frozen to the loft.

I take mine out at night,at this time of year the birds don't drink a lot so a few hour without water won't do them any harm,usually about 8 am. when i put them back in the loft.

I've never used heaters in my drinkers but would have thought fish tank heaters would do the job,they come with thier own stat and if set about 2 to 4.c. should be OK. http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=fish+tank+heater&hl=en&aq=0 Lindsay

Morning all,hard frost here.

Depending on what you treat it with paint or varnish might not take.If you are going to varish thin the varnish well down and put a few coats on then the main coat.

First thing mate is get the loft as high of the ground as posible to let fresh air under.Mine's on paving slabs and railway sleepers.The front of the lofts are varnished with yacht varnish,the sides and back are painted with floor paint.The back corners have 6" X 6" steel plates on to stop the water getting in at the joints.The front to side joints are silliconed,same round the windows. I don't mind what the crack is on pigeon sites I can take most things BUT X FACTOR is FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFn crap, all that can should vote that goon WAGNER right to the end and show people what a load of complete rubbish the programe is.The coloured lad that was booted off this week in my mind was a cracker of a singer singing the right type of song,he took it on the chin anyone a lesser man would throw the towel in and ask themselves why bother.I think someone will now help the lad and good luck to him.
