  1. Picked this up of another site. The Pennine Valleys Federation is holding a substitute race from Stone Flats, STAFFORD (Tuesday 26th July) as a replacement for the one lost to weather conditions just over a week ago. It is hoped to liberate approximately 1,500 birds at 8am or as soon after subject to satisfactory conditions. Fanciers and/or trainers in and around Stafford and on the likely line of flight to Huddersfield, Halifax, Keighley and Skipton are advised to be careful when excercising or training their pigeons. The race should take between one hour twenty minutes and one hour forty. The liberation time will be confirmed on pigeon-chat tomorrow morning. Thank you for your consideration. No Lib. yet because of rain in the area, next update 09:00 hrs. Watch your youngens en-route. Lindsay
  2. Picked this up of another pigeon forum>> >>The Rhondda Valley Fed are organising a replacement race from Hullavington on Wednesday 27th July. There will be two transporters on site possibly carrying between 3,000 to 4,000 birds. Liberation time will be early morning weather permitting. Trainers should be aware of the above liberation. The convoy should travel along the M4 and cross into Wales around the Chepstow area. Watch your young birds. Lindsay

  8. Quote "Yet from an early age pigeon fanciers divide the young from the old exercising and training the young on their own even, daily exercise around the loft is done on their own and not with the old birds. I firmly believe a great number of young birds lost are not allowed to mature into the champions they could and should be as they were put under too much strain at an early age. This seems to be against nature’s way, as the young are taught by their elders in the wild. Could this be a reason for the massive losses we are having at present?" You put a great post up there mate BUT, having been among pigeons for near enough 60 years if what you are saying ie. not letting your young birds fly/train with the old birds as nature would probably do,how comes when I used to breed 30 young birds, fly the full programe and end up with 24/25 youngens left that natures way wasn't the norm then.I've never flew my youngens with oldens. This weeks race 31 away 17 home and I take it you don't live in Cumbria that's the fears of all fears for racing pigeons with BOP on every cliff or mountain side. never the less a good post. Lindsay

Why do the BBC always have to push BOP.Again last night they showed a peregrine nesting in the Hartlepool area and it's on again tonight.Do you think they are a part of the RSPB,they NEVER tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth, even a worker tells you he's been picking pigeon rings up from below the nest. Wind it on to 16 mins 20 sec. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b012my8v/Look_North_(North_East_and_Cumbria)_21_07_2011/ Lindsay
