  3. How many training tosses do fanciers give there yearling widowhood cocks to there hens

  5. Any one help with knowing where you can get the little springs that go on the wooden stall trap . Can seem to find any light enough for the pigeon weight and one of my stalls springs are rusting and a couple snapped completely is there a name for these that are used in other mechanical work

    Bamfords super fly

Is he Belgium corn more expensive as they like us have to import most of the seeds like Dari maize etc then export to us where the Uk corn is only Imported once ? Or is it due to the grade of say Maize do VL buy a higher more expensive corn than Bamfords

    Bamfords super fly

I know what you mean Alex souths feeds do a low protein version in Gerry about ÂŁ15.40 so ÂŁ3.50 cheaper
  8. Any members used this mix to 250 miles I normally use Gerry as a base but looking at cheaper alternatives.

    Feeding

It does help time wise Alex particularly when there are youngsters to get out and hens

    Feeding

I feed similar Alex any protein done by Monday morning if not Sunday . Instead of dupurative I just put half gerry half barley . I don’t let the birds out to Tuesday evening anyway as I know they wouldn’t want to do to much ,it’s Tuesday when I swop to full gerry they may fly 30 mins at times on a Tuesday night other times close to a hour ( first loft fly of the week) but I don’t worry either way as by Thursday night they are doing a shift . My old birds only go out of the loft for 75 mins 3 days a week . I started the system to fit in with my work but I wouldn’t change it now like you if I had them out Sunday Monday on this diet I doubt they would do 20 mins

    Feeding

I think your right Bluey as some do feed the same mix each week I just think proteins early in the week are better as it’s high carbs you need for the race . I haven’t fed a pea or bean after Monday for a good few years now I fact I normally only feed them Sunday if at all , it had to have been a tough race for me to do so . in the past when I flew south from 300-500 I fed more beans and peas and the birds came well but were found wanting on the sprint races. Now I only fly to 360miles I find can get good results from carbs and increased fats

    Protein grain

    Feeding

Makes sense Alex protein to carbs to carbs/fats slough getting the percentage right is the tricky bit

    Feeding

Yes mine are separated they have eggs I take them hen away cocks with the box hen on a v fly them like that all week saturday both traps are open . Then I spilt them Saturday night or Sunday morning . They always have a fair time together I tend to put protein in the diet sunday Monday I may put 25per cent breeding corn into the gerry , if it’s a blow home I put 25 per cent barley go the gerry instead then depending on the race some hemp sunflower etc wendnesday night or if a east one Thursday night although I do wonder if it makes a great deal of difference

    Feeding

What’s member plans for feeding during the old bird season I use gerry plus normally but add some barley or yb mix to it sunday and Monday depending on the race race they have had and then just gerry and some fat seeds from Wednesday night with a increase in amounts fed Wednesday and Thursday pretty basic for me
  16. Cheers I will check that out
  17. Cheers mate it’s not a grain I have noticed before and no info easy to find
  18. Anyone know how yellow Dari is different to red or white only I have seen it in VL super winner looks a nice light mix but haven’t come across yellow Dari from memory
  19. I will have a look at the product thanks
  20. Anyone finding the Gem matrix more grit than powder /minerals of late I stopped buying it as it was heavy on grit but not sure if a good alternative
  21. That’s interesting I use protein powder after a head wind on a Sunday did you use it set days from weaning or after certain races
  22. What if any minerals or powders do members use in there corn I use provite or brewers yeast for stock and brewers yeast early in the week for racers . I see there are lots of alternatives though
  23. Hi mate i had the nest box in there but they used them more like yb do ,not really going to the same box a few did but the vast majority didn’t which I thought maybe was down to not having a nest
  24. That’s good mine looked like world beaters but I think I didn’t motivate them correctly looking back cocks didn’t all claim a box they were more like youngsters changing perch’s maybe if they had claimed a set box it would have worked for me
  25. Anyone fly this system I tried it but found the cocks looked great flew great at home but just off the pace on a Saturday compared to the cocks that had had eggs or babies in the box
