  8. i remember as young lad going with john mc fall to give jimmy wands of wands and mc cardle newmains a write up a great flyer in fed and national when john asked him how he trained his national birds we both almost fell off the chair when he said i train them with the wind at there tail in all directions when john asked why he said it puts speed into them so there ye go totally against the train of thought but a great flyer never the less and it worked for him
  9. im sure it was his youngbirds rab dell will know better than me but remember him telling me they were not coming the right way but he got it sorted and sust the problem as he is a good doo man
  10. yes i agree with that rab but i think you get more of them if you keep teaching them the same lesson lol

  12. tried it a few years ago alan good stuff but not what i want m8 think i know where to get it now thanks just something to have in the med drawer
  13. ive done all that to rab but won f k all m8 your in a diff part of the country from us too what im trying to do is let my birds fight for the same breaking point over and over again like i say it works for me and thats all i can go by m8 many roads lead to rome big dell stopped sending his birds through burnbank because his birds were breaking from the west if i remember correct it was learning his birds bad habits as he needs them down the middle or eastside to win just the same as i did everyone has to do there best to help there birds win in the area they are homing to if they dont break they dont win over here simple as that jmo rab
  14. ill try to explain my reasons for training on the line or near as pos is so important to me 8 maybe 10 years ago it was recognized that the bulk of the falcons were on the west or centre of the country so the club i was in at the time started an east route club and our returns did improve everyone started to train from the east most west lofts starting at carnwath and working right out to ski slopes balerno hermiston were all popular tosses within a year the fed went east also the losses were not as bad for while but i noticed that clubs like larkhall lowaters greenfield burnbank and blantyre did not get as many fed tickets as before cambuslang club the last club in our section were dominating the west section taking 8 10 and 12 tickets in our section every week taking nothing away from cambuslang club as they were a very strong club with some great flyers but i wonderd why this was happening as before we went east route the other clubs got there share of fed tickets then a fancier in my own club suddenly started winning everyweek dont get me wrong the guy was training very hard but he won 5 or 6 races in a row and was taking fed tickets so i asked him where he was training from abington he told me which was where i used to train from but the place is moving with falcons i said why train there his answer was its easier to get to and i dont have the time to train east what about the falcons i said sometimes i get hit sometimes i dont they just have to handle it then the penny dropped for me what i thought was happening his birds were fighting to hold the line they were trained on ours were breaking futher down and coming in from the back of the fed hence cambuslang taking the bulk of the fed tickets last drop our birds were coming down the the east side then coming back in from the west we could all see it happening like i said taking nothing away from cambuslang as they are a great club but we should be getting our share and we are not as soon as i started training back down the old route abington crawford elvanfoot i started winning and taking fed tickets again infact i won the youngbird ave in the lanarkshire fed that year with the best ave over all sections with one hundred and forty eight thousand birds competing and have tried to train as near as pos to the west or centre of country i also advised three other fanciers to do the same and they also started winning fed tickets i would never take my national pigeons to the east to train them i want them to fight to hold there line not show them where they should not be so this is why training the line is so important to me and its stood me in good stead so far like i said this is just my opinion but its based on what ive watched happen over the years and what i did to rectify it and it works you guys make your own mind up i can only work with what i know opinions are great but thats all they are i can only tell how it works for me and hope it works for you
  15. the wind and drag determins the route rab always has always will m8 but everyone to there own
  16. your right of course gareth no where safe m8 remember the great tosses we had from coldstream and no one lost a pigeon could put the kettle on for them to lol trouble is some want you to do it for them m8 and it needs all of us
  17. thanks guys more pleased for jim getting a fed ticket
  18. well done kev
  19. a few years back anyone know if you can still get im sure it was a pet store that sold it in the bhw
  20. i agree with gareth im just p d because i should have known better but the amount of injured birds from the toss is ott but i also think why train from a place the birds will never be unless they are lost if they ever do see that area there beat peebles kelso otterburn even but ill never be back at dunbar even when we were having good races from there with the mid week i thought we were teaching our birds bad habits by learning them to break farther and farther east when to win we need our birds to fight for the middle but like i say its jmo
  21. its a good toss if your not straight west from it dell im hearing of guys with ten missing last night what was wrong with meldons i know we get hit there also but the birds were getting home and not needing to fly a shift to do it m8 not blaming anyone but if its not broken dont fix it if it was a week before the national i could see the point m8 just dont see the logic anyway ive had my rant for the day lol
  22. many with birds missing and birds injured i myself have two good yealing hens missing and two hawked from 24 sent first bird 201 then birds coming all day up to 8 15 last night who needs training like that ill not be back at dunbar glad i only sent yearlings just taking the goodness out the birds imo
