Maybe Kyle Douglas on Facebook could help, he's at Whitby and helps many hundreds of strays per year get home.

Cheers Tiger, I hope they cleared well coz we 7 mile along the A7 South of Hawick and it's been raining here for last 20 minutes, back to sun now.

Guys could you put on here the time you liberate please, just we were hoping for a training chuck Tuesday from Carter Bar back home to Hawick and don't want to get mixed with your birds.Plus have a Fife stray in which might get a good help back up home if she can latch on.

We saw a batch go over us, live on A7 7 mile southwest of Hawick they were heading towards Newcastleton/Langholm, unusual for us to see batches of birds. If you imagine an egg box that's what the hills and valleys are like, birds don't like crossing the hills so end up going down the valleys for miles before they find a way out. We were going to train as was sunny first thing, but quickly got full cloud cover and very windy. Hope the birds work their way back home. If we get any we'll report them.

What a cracking offer for someone from a winning loft!
-
I would say wires as it looks like a slice of top layers been took off, whereas if it was a hawk I would expect to see puncture wounds were the talons had grasped at the bird.

Have emailed a guy in Oldham to see if he's available/able to help. Have you posted on pigeon chat as I think Jeanette their admin is from that area? Might get a quicker response.

I would be careful putting it out unless council have agreed, me mum had a sofa n chairs to be collected and was told to put them out before 7am, at the time she worked nites so explained she wouldn't be home before 7 so would put it in the back street (with security gates the council have keys for) before she went to work. But was told if she put it out the nite before it would be classed as fly tipping and she would be fined!

So far so good this year, but last year had a latebred hammered by a cock that had got in the wrong box, it was the worst I had seen, my man wanted to dispose of him but I asked for a few days to see if we could get any healing, salt water bathed and then propolis applied daily, he's now a cracking young cock looking forward to training him this year. I use propolis any time we have an injury with the birds, also on a hen that pulls her own feathers at the start of the moult each year, works a treat.

For anyone with Belgium birds or who gets one in as a stray, our experience may help. We got a Belgium stray in beginning of August, emailed the address on the SHU ring list for Belgium strays, undelivered, emailed the address on the RPRA website, undelivered, followed the link off the RPRA site to the Belgium union site, reported the bird on the 5th August, got email back saying owner notified, waited a week no contact so emailed the owner via her Belgium email address, still no contact after a week or so, used the contact form on the Belgium site to advise them of the situation and asked them to investigate, still no contact, so emailed the SHU advised them of the situation asked for advise/help what to do next, they replied put birds details on transfer form and they would transfer it to us. Then got a phone call from SHU yesterday, bird registered with them owner lives in Motherwell, my man spoke with him last night and he's gonna come down and collect him on Wednesday. So if you get a Belgium stray in report it to your own union as they keep lists of the Belgium birds, if we had known this it would have saved a lot of hassle and the bird could have been collected over a month ago. My man been around birds all his life but wasn't aware other unions could sort out Belgium birds so perhaps unions could make their members aware?

We phoned South Lancs Couriers today, they are picking up a bird for us from Sheffield and bringing it up to the Scottish borders 16th. Birds with a non-fancier so they gonna pick it up and put it in a holding pen. Think they are based around Manchester so could probably pick it up before Wednesday for you.

Just wanted to let you guys know about our experience with G&R Pigeon Couriers this week. We phoned on Monday to arrange collection of a pigeon from North Wales to be delivered to the Scottish Borders (full address details and phone numbers given), were told they would check the schedule but could be collected Tuesday and delivered Thursday. When we hadn't heard from them today we gave them a ring, only to be told the pigeon hadn't been collected because they no longer delivered to Scotland, and if we had read their advert in the Homing World we would have known (shame the employee we spoke to on Monday hadn't read the advert!) Luckily we then rang UK Pigeon Couriers, and dealt with a very professional gentleman who reassured us he would contact the fancier in Wales and arrange collection and contact us the day before delivery to make sure the day was suitable! Could I please use this forum to say a big Thank You to both UK Pigeon Couriers and the fancier in Wales who took the time to take in our pigeon, care for her and report her to us!
