ive jujst been given a model eagel owl how do i get my birds use to it i dont want to let my birds out and lose them as they wont come back to the loft because of the owl so how do you do it or have done it cheers simon .

i got 5 ltr drinkers and add around 10ml to the drinker .

i go to our local health food shop and buy sambucol elderberry extract with glucose in it too add to water from the start i got caught out with it last year and my young birds never got to race until sept with the return races .

i start mine on econemy mix teaches them to pick up the big seeds also they dont fly too far from loft to start after 10 days they go onto a super young bird racing mix and do well on it but thats what suits my system the thing is ask a question on here and get 20 differant answers lol.

ive got 2 birds like this cock has trob the hens they will sit in nest bowl most of the day but not lay this has been happening since early feb i took some eggs from the racing loft and stuck them under each hen they have hatched and reared 1 round each and now sitting their second round if they wont lay make use of them and get them to sit some eggs . btw the hens are 05 and 07

i know ppl that are members of 2 clubs within 10 miles of each other and each club flys with a differant fed so yes it can be done

my stock loft lights come on at 3am and off at 7-30am when young birds are moved into their section they will have 16hrs light per day as i don`t like darkness .

did you have food in the loft that the rat could eat ? was the crop opened up on the bird and contence missing ? when i had a rat get in he ate the contence of the crop and left the bird could have been a stoat or weezel however rats will take pigeons but its strange that it was left and not dragged away a weezel will drink the blood from the bird and leave the carcase .

my father was in his woods feeding his pheasants 3 months ago and watched one walking down the woodland path about 50yds from where he was if he had his 243 with him he would of had the proof they are out there as his woods border the new forest its not suprising they are around.
