yes , i understand that . as a novice i was offered a feeding plan for my system that worked . only a few of my birds done well on it , i kept them ,and moved the others on , built up from there . having honed the system , yes i have come accross the odd exception , ie having a bird return after missing a few days sticking him in a box with some barley ,and come basket night finding the late comer looking fit and well ,and sending him to come home first .

was always protected by the mountain in severe weather back home Bill , not so now

i disagree JAM , if the right stuff , and fed right amount at right time , the winnings should or could cover it .jmho.

ive put 4 pair of stock in a spare back room , 4 cocks and 4 hens , locked the other stock cocks in there boxes , put remaining stock hens in a basket on floor of stock cocks section . my only worry was the stock hens section which has a cordylyne roof . rest of my carpentry / building skills i hope will with stand the wind ?

me too TOOSHY ,some of my "older stock" have been with me at 3 or 4 diffrent locations , would be un-fair on them if anything did happen.
