also had a "knockout" in same club , boy we were spoilt , a trophy for every race plus extra cups and shields to collect if lucky enough .

we had similar John , again in the same club " ring nomination" it was won by 1 of the top 3 prize-winners every year , they normally had birds left when the others had lost them along the way . so much so , it was cancelled the last year i was there , due to only 3 of us entering

Club internal competition ? we used to have a "Ladies nomination " trophy , it was won by the first hen clocked in the 3rd or 4th youngbird race . trophy winner wasnt always a top flier , in fact it was often won by a novice ,or oap .so a fairly level playing field ?
