I never send old birds training with youngsters,they have to find their own way home. one thing i do with the youngbirds is basket train them ie put them in a basket not overcrouded and leave them there for about an hour then take them arround to a nearby field and let them go. its not the distance you want its to make the youngsters confident when they leave the basket. i do this 3 or 4 times then straight into 20 miles,they would have to have been ranging at least an hour for a week or two before doing this. if you go to short you will loose more youngsters that way. 25 MILES IS THE FURTHEST I SEND MINE, THEY GO THERE AS MANY TIMES AS I CAN SEND THEM. MY FIRST RACE IS 74 MILES SOMETIMES I MISS IT AND NEXT RACE IS 115 MILES SO A JUMP OF 90 MILES.IF THERE FIT AND THE WEATHER IS RIGHT THEY WILL TAKE A GOOD JUMP IN DISTANCE. THE WEATHER HAS TO BE RIGHT NO EAST WINDS. BANDIT

I START AT 5 MILES 4 TIMES THEN STRAIGHT IN TO 25 MILES ABOUT 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE FIRST RACE, THE WEATHER HAS TO BE RIGHT I WONT TRAIN IN EAST WINDS OR IF THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 8 DEGREES, THE BIRDS ALSO NEED TO BE FIT AND FLYING FREELY ARROUND THE LOFT. BANDIT

Have been to lier market for the last couple of years, bought youngsters a few times most didnt do any good,bought 1 choco and she flew the program gaining a couple of cards then percy took her.when in antwerp i always visit the market and have a few beers in the grote house pub my mate swa van de weeh and his good wife lizzie always help out fanciers but lately swa hasnt been well but sometimes he makes the trip to lier to meet his many friends, lier is well worth visiting but i would rather buy from a loft visit ,just my opion. bandit

NEARLY HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN IT TOOK SO LONG, WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE FINISHED IN 2 WEEKS,IM HAPPY WITH NOW, ITS 22X4 YOUNGBIRD LOFT 22X 8 STOCK AND WIDOW LOFT AND 12X4 HEN LOFT DONE IN A U SHAPE, YOU DONT SEE THE HEN LOFT IN THE PHOTOS IT WOULD BE ON THE RIGHTHAND SIDE. THE TRAPS WERE MADE BY ANOTHER GUY AND I THINK THEY ARE GREAT ALSO. BANDIT

I WAS THERE A FEW YEARS AGO. THE ONE THING I DID NOTICE ABOUT HERMANS PLACE WAS PLENTY OF LOFTS VERY FEW PIGEONS IN EACH. QUALITY PIGEONS IN EVERY SECTION. I DIDNT BUY AS THEY WERE LONG DISTANCE STRAIN, GOT TREATED WELL AS YOU DO IN BELGIUM TEA COFFEE AND BISCUITS AND CHOCS. HERMAN HAS WON NATIONALS IN BELGIUM AND HOLLAND AS YOU SAID. NOT MANY CAN DO THAT. BANDIT

I think about 50 young birds in a loft that size, how many perchs have you got in the loft. you would need arround 70 to keep that amount of pigeons. they need to be happy and not to be fighting all the time . if going on the darkness you also have to think about ventilation. bandit

HEALTHY AND IN GREAT CONDITION YOU SHOULD DO WELL THIS YEAR . WELLDONE ID BE VERY HAPPY WITH DOES YOUNGBIRDS. BANDIT

ASHA for once keep your mouth shut if you have nothing good to say , by the way 1 of mine was 2nd place beaten by 3 seconds in the emerald classic in one of the hot spot races, also ive won 5 races with my rolands, the greatest distance mine flew was 244 miles. what birds do you fly and show us some of your results. we had a guy like you in our club a long time ago now he has no club i wonder why. Who on the forum has or races the roland jansenns. At blackpool direct children of the champions were very expensive ie 550 pounds for a son or daughter of rolands best. Whats the greatest distance you have sent them and won. Iknow in the us they go out to over 600 miles crossed. BANDIT

you can race the pigeon in old then young bird races, as they say its the ring you write down on your club sheet, so write down the old ring in the old bird races and the younbird ring for youngbird races.a member of our club had his own ring on and a belgium ring on the other foot same year. he just put his own ring number on the club sheet and told the guy putting his bird through to read out his own number. once a bird has an 09 ring on it can be raced in young bird races even after been raced as an old bird earlier in the season simply by putting the old bird ring on his club sheet. grey area but if i was stopped racing the bird i recon i would win a case if it went that far. bandit

I got 6 whites off kev at blackpool and they were all in great condition. anyone getting whites off him will be well pleased. bandit

Ive been to the breeding station a couple of times over the years and if you travel to antwerp its worth the visit. I bought 2 black leus hens this year and hope to race their youngsters later this year.They also have a great pigeon museum with old clocks and many other things to see. The birds on view and there are thousands look great. BANDIT

Never help any youngster out of the egg, if their not strong enough to hatch they are no good. let mother nature do her job. only the strong should survive. bandit
