Davy Hannah phoned me on Sunday morning to see what the weather was like in North Yorkshire,i was up early and it was a lovely morning ,clear as a bell and sunshine,yet you had another bad race,Huntingdon is 147 miles to me.I fully understand Lanarkshires reasons for not racing the West route but i still dont understand where your birds head over to the West when your are racing from the East.What route do you lads think that they take?

Whitedoo I live in North Yorkshire and fly 112 miles from Peterborough,yesterday we were at Clermont the temp here was 24 degrees and i got 1 out of 6.Today it is 12 degrees and a strong North East wind there has been nothing in the sky all day and i have still nothing back from yesterday it would take a good bird to fly up here today.

As a Rangers fan i have condemned the nutters who have sent bombs to Neil Lennon.I think he is passionate about his team as i am about mine.I was at the match yesterday and both sets of fans were a credit to their clubs ,at half time when the Rangers fans were belting out Penny Arcade the Celtics fans all turned their backs on mass and did a giant huddle.At full time again i thought that Neil Lennon let himself down with his antics he had already gone to the Broomloan Stand to applaud the Celtic fans for their support then why not walk of the park without having a dig at the Rangers fans as a famous tv star would say Banter my A***.

Cheers Jimmy Its just a case of the Governors approving the small loft in their budget,i told the head that they would learn more and get more enjoyment out of keeping 6 young birds that they would keeping 6 chickens.

Oldyellow You are right the RPRA supply loads of stuff free of charge,Karen James sent me pens,posters ,balloons and loads of other stuff to hand out to the children.When i first started the talks they were scheduled for half an hour but they went on that long that now we star at one oclock after lunch and finish at three fifteen when the school closes.The classes are now all called after birds eg Penguis,Eagles,Ravens and of course myself and the cleaning staff are the Pigeons,it great what a bit of PR can do for our image,this year i have entered 2 birds in the Emerald Classic one loft race so the teachers and kids will be following their progress.

I do 2 talks every year to the children about pigeons,year 3 and 4 we talk about the pigeons and the messages they carried,year 5 and 6 we talk about the pigeons in World War 2.I always take a few birds in and some sqeakers,i also take my Ets system in as the chilren are fascinated by the technology,after the talk i always release a basket of birds,the only dvd i have shown the kids is Valiant and that is usually shown by the teachers the next day.I work in the school and the head was talking about getting some chickens and i have convinced her to get a small loft from RV Woodraft and keep half a dozen young birds in it.The teachers and kids love to see live pigeons and are fascinated by them.
