  6. I assume the train of thought was to use the first race for a toss. I will only support it if the temperature and wind are favourable.

    Snow/sleet in Ayrshire
  12. If the pigeons are flying out and you want a particular pair to mate let them out together with no other birds in the sky and that should do the trick
  13. Nature will take it's course. They need straw or tobacco stalks for nesting. Just gain some experience this year
  14. For the future nestboxes but if you don't have them they will nest on the floor behind a board to give some protection.
  15. The present Celtic manager inherited a useful team but has failed to get as much from it as the previous manager. He is now replacing this useful team. There is no guarantee that these new guys will play to their full potential under his management. He may prove to be be as incompetent as George Burley. Where then?

    just a thought

The non ETS fancier is definately being discriminated against. I am a member of RPRA and Shu. I normally buy rings from the RPRA but cancelled this years order as I have no intention of handicapping my birds with these monstrocities which can foul obstructions, and even damage the hen when mating. I appreciate that they may be more uniform once a chip is inserted but the last thing my birds need is a set of plastic spurs.
  17. The product I used is called Benzyl Benzoate. I bought 500ml for about £4.00 online from Chemists Direct last year. It's used to treat seaside nippers (crabs) in humans. No I don't suffer. One application with a cotton bud to the bird which was suffering did the trick. It just takes time for the feathers to regrow.
  18. I've actually forgotten the name of it. I'll go to the hut and read the bottle
  19. Mungo--I have something which might help. I can give you some to try. It certainly works for chest depluming mite----the birds not mine.
  20. I think what the report means is that they had to wait till the sparrowhawk had made a kill and then the body was used to bait the trap. They were not allowed to tempt the sparrowhawk into the trap using a live bird as bait seperated by a divider inside the Larsen trap. That part of the report is not very clearly worded.
  21. It's actually caused by a virus but has no lasting effects.

The trademark of a decent windup merchant is that no one knows they are at the windup ;D
  23. Too cold---I like the vaccine to be above 15 degrees I am afraid. That's what the instructions say and it means taking hot water with me.
  24. Started with frozen hail but a really sunny day now although temperatures are only about 3 degrees. Too cold for me to vaccinate the few birds remaining I am afraid.
  25. My opinion would have been about 2 weeks ago so that maximum immunity is passed onto the youngsters. I would vaccinate now and delay pairing.
