  1. Very well said. I know members who have fallen foul of this rule in the past and as a consequence have decided to never fly with the SNFC again. Payback time if you like.
  2. Ayrshire liberated at 09:30 from Dunbar. Light variable wind
  3. As far as I am aware they are different. Circovirus is a much more recent development. It attacks the Bursa in the youngster thereby reducing it's immunity to anything which happens to be in your environment. That is my understanding.
  4. Ayrshire North Road also raced on Sunday. Not sure of their lib time but I think they were at Stirling and there may always be the possibility of some kind of mix up.
  5. Was this with the Sunday private club?
  6. One guy on this site timed one at 479 miles this year. It seems they can do that distance in a form loft if managed properly.
  7. and using a world cup horn to pull them out of the batch
  8. I have used it for feather mite. The ones which eat the chest feathers. Just smear some on with a cotton bud then repeat about 2 weeks later. It's difficult to tell if it has worked as the feathers need to be moulted. Cots to me from Chemists direct was about £5.00 for 250mls. Enough to treat the entire federation. At one time it was the recommended treatment for seaside nippers in humans.
  9. don't know to be truthful.
  10. Ayrshire Federation libed at 07:30. Doing over 40 mph from Carnwath. Returns so far look promising.
  11. Tony Marden use to write about adding lime to the water as a prevention for YBS. Lime would make the water alkaline. Using alkaline water is against the theory that we should give the birds cider vinegar as this makes the gut acidic which the good bacteria are supposed to favour. My own view is that all bacteria like stable conditions so moving the pH in any direction should affect them. Hope this helped not much time as we have a young bird race on at the moment.
  12. I hope you have a great race.

I live near Ayrshire coast. I have had 2 southern Irish pigeons in as strays this year. As normal I simply feed them for a few days and when conditions are right they leave for home. Whether it is coincidence or a mearure of the number of raptors between here and Ireland but buth have tried to return home and both have returned within a couple of days with tails missing and talon punctures on the chest. That is 100% failure due to predators. Sorry about your attack.
  14. Ayrshire federation marked tonight but it looks as though the race will be poorly supported.
  15. Yes I can read perfectly well. I can also understand English better than most and I do not use upper case in an attempt to show off. You said different. Well done. What is different if not a reference to the quality of the pigeon. Please explain. Quality infers that the fanciers who send to this race are experienced at this distance as are their birds and the quality they send is capeable of copeing with the task.
  16. With both this race and SNRPC Tours I am certain that the pigeons entered would have been the correct type of pigeon for the course and also that they would have been well prepared so I doubt if quality of bird was a factor.
  17. I agree entirely with this comment. Any fancier interested in improving their stock should think about introducing some of these.
  18. Frequent showers and a strong westerly wind in Ayrshire. It is strong enough to have damaged some trees.
  19. I simply said we were asking Club/Federation racers to perform in a National scenario. It was my opinion that they did not have the necessary logic to deal with being released with birds which were from all over the country.
  20. It's going not too badly Alan. How about you are you still visiting Barmill.
  21. Definately won't bother about it John. I thought it was a valid point. Maybe I am more senile than I thought.
  22. Strangely I posted on this thread last night but find no trace of my post now. Maybe it was too close to the truth. Oh well you won't have to remove any more of my posts.
  23. Do they not have a web site where news like this can be posted. I only visited it once a while ago so I am unsure if it is used for this purpose.
  24. To give the birds maximum protection they should be done in the nest irrespective of witnesses or red tape.
  25. It has been raining heavily in Ayrshire since before 05:00 with a brisk westerly wind blowing.
