1 ) i race on widowhood and pair either after Blackpool and before the 14th of febuary , i then will pair 48 hours before the race 2) one round of ybs is reared by the race team be it one or two ybs , but i only get one chance at it sometimes they havent been reared from and still flown well but i think there bond with the loft and box strenghtens after rearing 3)i start these birds about 4 races into the season and like a couple of channel crossings into them then plenty of tosses on there own to get them used to flying alone then a short inland race prior to the 500 mile race 4) I use a few mixes mainly Versa Laga superwidowhood , small seeds ,peanuts and hulled sunflowerseeds i feed according to there staus if resting i feed light if racing i feed the better fuel i dont want my birds performing during the week but at the weekend 5) they will be technicaly driving but i still class this as been widowhood 6) i feed then bath the birds helps relax them they can eat all they want as most of the feeding will be done when there away 7) great questions

Whats the difference between Tumblers & Rollers?
OLDYELLOW replied to GypUK's topic in Fancy & Show Pigeons
rollers are more of a uncontrolled roll where as tumbers tend to do a controlled roll , tipplers im not sure -
The best system is one that suits you and works for you and the birds

it was there post may have been removed but all that does is puts it down the list in post order
-
still there perhaps you can open the boards to see if there first
-
rollers are still registered to the breeder unless they transfers to you , so ineffect if you have no paperwork for there transferal then they are still the owners property the birds with have a prefix to which union they are affiliated to
-
depends what type of bird all birds should be sold with a transfer
-
rings are perminant on old birds and once the leg is grown wont come off , any birds you buy should be transfered to yourself and therefore your property , ringing ybs should be done between 6 to 8 days old

these nobbly bits may be just calcium on the surface and can be fine underneath but i would bin if not smooth as these eggs tend to get crush and are very weak

-
as long as the egg is solid under the nobbly bits egg will be fine if thin then will get crushed , the nobbly bits are just calcium , perhaps you need to supliment this with soluble calcium or live natuaral yoghurt mixing a small bit of grit in the feed will help as well
