  1. Welcome to the site ,Miss Willis ,some poultry corn and some smaller beans ( dari or mung beans ) no more than 18% of the feed as kirky says it wont be able to eat the bigger bits due to its mouth size it looks like a tippler / tumbler to me
  2. cheers Roland and i think you wouldnt go a miss either from the list and perhaps IB , but theres many good fanciers on here with great knowledge , be hard to pick just 4
  3. Feeding and care for a bird usualy is pretty basic but each case is individual as some may just be flown out and tired whilst others could be injured . However a few tips can be applied 1) Ensure bird is safe from peditors and try to capture and retain in a box 2) most birds will carry identification rings that will enable return to there owner and often if a race bird maybe carrying a wing stamp which can be read by opening the wing 3) Pigeons need food and water some rice will do temporaly but a pigeon corn mix from a petshop be much better 2 tablespoons am and pm is enough to feed the bird for a day . The begiiners loft wouldnt be a bad idea perhaps the next time i come across a new starter , i will be willing to mentor them and take them through building a loft or buying ectra , maybe create step by step threads so can be followed by others that may come along and perhaps put them on sticky in the novice and new starter section
  4. biggest mistake when pairing early is hens are too fat and if your feeding a mix heavy in maize they can take along time to lay , put them on barley and wheat till they have laid , give a calcium supliment and mix a bit of grit in with there feed , or some soluble calcium in the water to ensure good egg formation and suply vitamins , all will help with geting hens to lay good eggs i even put live natural yoghurt in the water at this time right until youngsters weaned
