  1. like the centre right and bottom right the dark and bronze very nice
  2. any products i use in the water are for antiparasitic to help deter parasites and keep airways clear be hard to prove that bloom does protect from rain as a powder it must be absorbant but you could argue when mixed with water it could change back to an oily state for protection , but in order to experiment you would need two identical pigeons feather wise ectra perhaps twins one bathed one not and to cover same terrain when raining , i would say my birds are more hard day birds and have never had a problem in most weather conditions if i expect rain i like my birds bathed as i believe that new bloom is better than old , but each to there own
  3. nice birds
  4. i think a healthy bird looks after its feathers , as its feathers are its way of regulating its temperature and protecting it from the elements , bathed birds are less likely to go down on rainy days as there depleated oils ( also known as bloom ( white powder ) ) have been removed by bathing and new oils protect the feathers some birds do look more wet than others is this down to the birds bathing less and not going through the changing of oils on it feathers or a different feather type ? either way intresting debate , we cant all agree but a healthy bird looks after itself and if we can help that then has to be better for the bird
  5. could be if not a hair
  6. cant see anything wrong with that any more and it will have a laxative effect Flax is more commonly known as linseed
  7. bugie seed
  8. many things can contribute to silky feathers , conditioning seeds are oily these will have the desired effect on the feathers so will various vegetables juiced carrots bring feathers to a top shine also takes the fat off the bird so thats how to change from inside out , and the other way is externaly via the bath 3 drops of tea tree oil and 3 drops of olbas oil great for respirity and a deterant for parasites and gives feathers that silky feel, so conditioning the pigeon inside and out

    SNOWING

had dusting new year and last night and snowing again now
  18. have had them hatch at 15 days to 21 days , when i used to keep egg dates i usualy found the sprinters quicker hatching and the distance birds at 21 days i suppose as soon as they've grown strong enough to emerge from there egg they do , and they must be strong enough and ready enough to get through the shell
  19. forgot to add i bought the Putman x Logan from a breeder buyer sale , i went to collect and he said well theres several ready now and a few he had just weaned off a few days prior all mainly blue chequers , i came away with a black wf which turned out to be a hen , and it's this line that has bred him lots of good birds from 500+ miles
  20. hes via Ken Anbys Pau Winner , which in turn bred two cocks which were 3rd fed 420 miles from Lerwick with two different pairings different years from my good friend skip , hence i called my good cock 'skip' these have been a cross of Ken Anbys Pau winner which was a deweerdt , then crossed with Van Braune these are all very closely inbred after , i am breeding a small family around the two sons of the two 3rd fed winners i have two sons from one and another from the other 3rd fed winner , and also a hen via the sister to my good cock when paired back to one of cocks with 3rd fed Lerwick 420 miles tidy pigeons which one so far scored from 3 out of 4 of the distance races last year , the shortest channel race was a bit of a disaster as they were put up in mist , which i believe robbed him out of another card i have bred another two cocks when crossed with Ginger Pickerings Putman x Logan , these birds always fair well in the 500 + mile races in our fed
  21. great offer im sure they'll do someone a good turn well done
  22. my good cock is from a 726 mile line of winners had 3rd club 16th fed from 524 miles as a yearling going to keep him at 500 miles this year then move him on to Bergerac 650 miles with midlands national year after if still here , suppose if hes still here as a 4 year old i might get a few extra miles in the NFC
  23. probably this statement was made because Kevin Hurst was the first in England to bring the Lindelaufs in to the UK , and he made his name through the Bushaerts , i have birds that decend from red 20 this hen was a full sister to Champion Pluto in turn she bred champion red 45 sons and daughters amasted over 1000 1st prizes my avitar is red 45 , i have 2 sons and a grandson of red 45 the grandson been via red tommy
