Three Good Reasons To Keep The Petition Running
OLDYELLOW replied to preston powerblast's topic in Notice Board
The union should be doing this every member pays there dues each year and also rings are sent out to each club if a petition was sent with the rings then the secretary's could get the members to sign it , like I said 600 signed from 100,000 that went to Blackpool that speaks volumes itself , save pigeons totally wrong angle certainly aren't endangered and R.S.P.B will continue to exploit bops and say there there to keep the feral numbers in check when they wont eat them , and will blame carrion and magpies , cats and lack of habitat for the loss of song birds and wild birds they are god as far as the governments concerned , what chance do we have the R.P.R.A are only interested where they can make money from , that's membership , rings , transfers ectra and looking good in front of cameras doing a crap job for a couple of years then been replaced by another yes man from the Old boys club. The manager of the R.P.R.A is no more than a custodian of a title and paid for it , powerless to act ???? time fer the dog to wag the tail not the tail wag the dog . Divided we fall simple as . We can't get more than 600 people to sign a petition very sad state of affairs , it's a case of I'm alright jack and put yer head back in the sand again . -
Never said wet feeding was caused by grit , by a lack of it yes

Sorry to hear mate rest up and get well soon , we all wish you a speedy recovery

The egg what is it ???? It's mainly Calcium ( shell ) and contents high in b12 , eggs should be smooth and robust . In order to produce good eggs your birds need to be healthy not fat but healthy . It is my opinion many eggs fail because of the health of the hen . Minerals and grits should be before your pigeons at all times unless medication states there removal , hens shouldn't be carrying any excess weight , as this leads to been egg bound and trapped nerves / paralysis in legs , to ensure a good hatch the content of the egg is b12 so a good idea to give B12 to your birds prior to laying , this will ensure the richness and quality of the egg internally and greatly improve the hatch rate ensuring robust chicks hatch , dead in shell is natures way of telling us it's too weak to survive , also barley shouldn't be fed prior to laying as this thickens the shells . Another good product is seaweed powder of which there's a few products on the market this is rich in iodine which helps with both fertility and keeping canker at bay I recommend that this is mixed in the grit , in most cases wet feeders aren't receiving the grit they need so struggle to get the correct nutrients to there young birds then resort to pumping them full of water to stop there crys and calls of hunger , although if grit and minerals are present the quality of corn should be the next thing to look at . If you think your birds aren't eating enough grit and minerals then you can mix some in with there feed

Helping Promote Pigeon Racing To The Young

We all know young un's aren't always the answer to our dwindling numbers , they haven't a disposable income , then they get interested in the opposite sex drinking and partying , then setting up homes and family's , however more retired people enter our sport as most have firstly the time and secondly a disposable income -
non permanent structure , check with yer council and your allotment rent / contract , sometimes in conservation areas planning is required

Probably the most expensive , requirement to start racing is a good loft . This provides firstly a home for the pigeons to shelter them from the elements and keep them safe from vermin and predators. Getting a ideal environment for your birds is essential to good racing . Sunlight and air two things that are free to use , heat brings on form in pigeons , I like a loft roof to be 1/6 open to sunlight and either be tiled or have a chimney in each section . Many loft makers use ship lap boards to make lofts , it looks good but in reality not as good as a full board such as marine ply the less joins the less likely to leak wood expands and shrinks . I like the idea of UPVC cladding as this weatherproofs a loft and also is easier to maintain just power wash down , also helps to keep the loft warmer . You need to think a loft out to suit yourself and your birds , probably a good idea to try and see as many racing lofts as possible to get ideas from . I like lofts to have one entrance and an internal corridor , then birds only ever have one entrance for life and only will ever need one ets pad , will certainly have a corridor on my next loft

Man goes to the doctor and tells him that he's got a piece of lettuce protruding from his backside, the doctor takes a look and says - It's just the tip of the iceberg. A man goes into Boots and says: “Have you got Viagra?†“Do you have a prescription?†asks the chemist. “No,†he replies, “But I’ve got a photograph of the wife...â€

My wife was in the kitchen this morning cooking breakfast, when I suddenly heard a loud thud. Running in, I found her dead on the floor! In a blind frenzy, I had completely no idea what to do........Then I remembered Wetherspoons do an all-day breakfast for £3.99.
