    losing amtrak

of course the sport will survive, there will be an alternative to Amtrak up and running soon. At least then people will have a choice again!
  2. Plenty at Louella
  3. Very good!
  4. Oh Amanda, another blonde day!!!!
  5. Carlsberg, If you take your birds straight from your darkened loft training you would have the same problem but anybody who flies darkness wouldn'tdo that! The birds will be trained during normal light hours so will have adjusted there sun/time clock! Phil
  6. I think he means yes we'll go over! Whatever happens we've just got to enjoy the racing we get but the biggest problem is the French, they are the ones that don't want us there! Much better chance by changing your route to Belgium and Germany where the fancy is stronger and have more clout when it comes to allowing racing. Phil

    courier

Some of you will have seen the following extract from View from the Reddings! I was talking to Roger last night and he is hopeing to have the service up and running after easter but there are still a few areas where he is in need of help. If anybody knows anybody in the areas listed below that may be interested in a second part time income then please ring Roger or PM me and i'll pass on the details. Dafydd Hughes – Pigeon Recovery ServiceYou may have seen an advert recently from Dafydd Hughes recruiting drivers to assist in pigeon repatriations. The advert was placed by Roger Hughes and I have had dealings with Roger now for some 4 years. He is a persistent chap and has tried twice, unsuccessfully, in the last 4 years to get a repatriation service ongoing to compete against Amtrak. Well he is back again and is now trying to find some fanciers or ex fanciers to set up a network around the country. If you are interested in talking to Roger in the first instance he is on 07760 176205. Help needed in the following areas:- North Norwich Kings Lynn Boston Lincoln Nottingham Sheffield Worksop Derby Chesterfield Cambridge WestLondon Luton Cheltenham Worcester Walsall Dudley Birmingham Blackpool Lancaster Milford Haven North Yorkshire Dales Scotland

    chocolate club

biggest problem is getting qty bred of a spacific colour! Where did you get enough chocs from and how do you plan to get enough yellows?
  12. with a sputnik on the front they should have plenty of chance to look around. Some people don't let the youngbirds outuntil there eyes have changed and others get them to start coming out as soon as they are weaned so it doesn't realy matter. The 4 that have gone off maybe just sat up somewhere and will reapear tomorrow, they don't usualy go far first time up. PHil
  13. it all dissapeared for a couple of years but is easily obtained again now.

    chocolate club

great idea if you can get the colour or birds you want.
  15. exactly sapper, but creosote is ol based and can make hell of a mess of feathers if it gets on the birds, better to use natural wood in the loft and paint if required!
  16. I don't know why you wanted to creosote anything to go inside the loft! If the loft is well ventilated the birds should be ok as the smell will linger for ages.

    Pools and payouts

Gareth, what size club is it and what pools do you run?
  18. Its not, they gave money to a bird centre on the Gower that specialise in releasing raptors!
  19. If Amtrak give up carrying birds which I think is likely, then what will the RPRA do? How will fanciers get birds back without falling foul of the rules, other fanciers will understand but birds will have to be collected from non fanciers? The RPRA should be doing something now, maybe even use some money from Blackpool instead of giving it to raptor centres etc! Phil
  20. Cumbernauld, 10 yrs ago we still had interlink as well so Amtrak had compertition. The RPRA could invest some money into putting a stray loft in each region, then birds could be moved from region to region on transporters then the owner could just collect the birds from the local stray loft? Phil

    Best software

I will talk to my programmer/wife!
  23. there should be enough light to allow the birds to go to the drinker if required but no enough to make them active.
  24. the biggest mistake people make is making the loft to dark, should be closed down to dusk level of light! Phil
