Well even though i am up to my armpits with everything at the moment i have decided to act on something that i have been thinking about for a long time, mainly since i lost my father to cancer. I want to arrange the biggest online auction(s) ever. I want all the proceeds to go to cancer charities in Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales. "Oh no not another sale for me to donate to" your all saying? Well yes it is, but thats why i'm getting in early, so you can pledge your donation to a very worthy cause. I don't just want to make a couple of thousand i want to make tens of thousands for them, i want to raise £50,000!! Sounds a lot but if we could get 500 birds and average a £100 each we could do it. I want to do as it says, the biggest online auction ever, or series of auctions ever. We may even have auctions in salesrooms if it could be arranged. At the moment i just want to start getting a list together, firstly of people who would be prepared to help in all the admin etc and secondly donations. Hopefully the auctions will take place in November. The donations can be anything you might have spare at the time or 2010 young birds, or even just a few quid. Every donation will count, every penny or cent of what is raised will be going towards a terrific cause, a cause that has probably affected every pigeon fancier's family. Fanciers are renowned for making money for charity, well this time we will raise the money and we will decide where it goes. It will go to causes that affect us all. I am going to cover all expenses myself for adverts, postage etc, maybe a bit of sponsorship will be received to help us out. Although I am going to write to every company involved in pigeon racing that i know. If you know anyone who would be interested in donating please give them my contact details. If you would like to pledge a donation, or would like to help this terrific event and cause, please either do so in this thread or pm me. Alternatively you can contact me on the following: mickbowler1965@hotmail.com 00353 8766 0928 Please please please donate what little or best you can.

If for any reason they don't fill next year then youngsters from the stockloft have been promised, can't be fairer than that!
-
if this time of year isn't busy then sept to jan certainly won't be!
-
would be better service if current couriers linked up more!
-
first race of the season except sending a couple of latebreds earlier on, 9/11 and 2nd club so reasonably pleased.

More Details:- Right the cock was a stock bird for R.Telfer and son, Motherwell, raced as a yearling then stock. He was named "Cara Quatrain". He is actually a Silvere Toye x Delbar. His sire is "Cara Gold Medal", pure Silvere Toye, bred by Betts and Hill, Notts, winner 1st fed Thurso (and gold medal) and 8th Fed Lerwick. Mother of Quatrain is "Cara Ode" from two delbars, her sire "Cara SRN" 1st fed Niort (488 miles) and her dam "The 44 hen", bred by Mr Mrs Colvin Newcastle. quote on pedigree as the 44 hen being "the best racing hen in the NE England"! This cock has fed winners on both sides from 400 miles+! The hen was also a R.Telfer and Son stock bird. She is "Cara Quantify", and has some tremendous old original Busschaert blood in her. Her sire is "Cara Bourges" bred and raced by Mr Mrs Graham, Durham, winner of 3rd 632 birds, 2nd club, 4th fed, 10th Durham Combine Beauvais, 1st club, 1st fed 7th Durham combine Bourges 563 miles. Sire of Cara Bourges from direct Georges Busschaert and champion Chequers (1st WDA Beauvais!), and his dam was 1st fed Tours!. Dam of Cara Quantify is Cara Provins, bred by harrison & Blackett, Newcastle but raced by Mr Mrs Colvin. Cara Provins was obviously a good racer, but the bit of paper with her performances on i seem to have misplaced. The auction will need to finish at 10pm on Sunday 21st June 2009

what time were they up, no news on ours from Newbury yet
-
My old Stamvaeter cock bred 2 birds to top the combine in Wales, mid 90's with 23000 + 24000 birds, proper birdages!

get them as tame as you can, eating from your hand and make sure they are hungry when you let them out so they will come to you/go back in when you want them to.
-
rumour has it BICC up at 6.50
-
food is the only way to get them to do what you want as yb's, once intilled in them what you want they will come in hungry or not. I've 1 yb at the moment that gets fed about 3 times a week, 1 day he's missing when the others come in so goes hungry when he does appear, the next day he's 1st in! I blame Vallance for him!
-
why is it not suitable for show pigeons?
-
Mick has said he will find the pedigrees and e-mail to me. When i've got them i'll post on thread but they certainly look the part.

Mickb has asked me to post the following pair of birds to be sold with the proceeds going to Valindre Hospital via Gail J. Both birds are 1998 but have been fully fertile this year. The Cock is a Silvere Toye and the Hen a Buschaert. First pic shows the pair and the second pic shows one of there youngsters from this year. Mick only bought them earlier this year but as he hasn't got the room for many stock birds wants to pass them on. Starting bid is £50 and they are to be sold as a pair. The birds are in Ireland but can be moved to Oxford next Wednesday. Sale ends 9pm on Monday 22nd June 2009.
