  1. looks like someone has been racing it [with rubber ring on], maybe worth keeping it,, who knows, where ever it came back from, the loft may no longer be there , maybe the reason for it returning, i remember i had a bird return after 6 years [lost in a race from worcester as a yearling] never said much for its racing ability, but boy what a memory lol true
  2. great video jeams ,, all very interesting, look a lovely place to stay,
  3. well done robbie, certainly was a hard race, good luck this week
  4. kinda hard to vote pete, ,, flying an hour am and pm, on the face of it seems ok,, ,, but theres weather to think about , probably wouldnt want them to do an hour in pouring rain, lol i think if your birds are flying 20 mins am,, 40 mins pm,, then doing their up and down antics, should be fine,, sometimes i think its not the time they fly its the way they fly, would rather see them doing 20 mins with gusto, zip lol, than an hour trailing low above the chimneys so would answer in my opinion only [1] not neccessary [2]seems fine to me,, out an hour am then an hour pm,, flying 20 and then 40 mins, the racing should keep them race fit [3] dont "flog" them, youll need them for the races lol,, :D only taking micky there pete, but know what your saying,,,flag them lol,, i wouldnt flag them more, the flag can come in handy in certain instances, but would prefer to see them flying with gusto,,on their own,,, but as with pigeons, no define answer, but good luck anyway lol

i would ask you to reconsider spin cycle,[ youve been on too long to leave now lol ],,, and in fact help " build the bridges" as you suggest, i completely agree with you,,but as in all walks of life, there will always be different opinions, etc, but having respect for each other, does, in my opinion go a long way, maybe we could all help build these bridges, and look forward to a great forum, i look forward to your posts "spin" best of luck

  14. think tony would make a good politician :D but agree, there is def many good birds sometimes in the wrong hands, but as j,a,m says,, [hes sitting on the fence,,,a better politition ] i think you need good birds, but good birds need good management
  15. i think your right as well vander,, i sometimes think that some fanciers, will breed from birds possibly because they have paid a lot for the parent birds, then try and "save" the yb,s even if they are not quite right,, in my opinion this is fatal,,and as you say, many will breed from almost anything, thinking that numbers will improve their team, to me , this will do the opposite,, its cheaper to feed a few good ones,, but a lot dearer to feed a lot of bad ones lol
  16. just wondered what the members thoughts are,, on the old one,lol ,, what would fanciers place first,,, pigeon or management??,,,and why

  21. could be any of the above, my guess a touch of thrush,, a good avian vet would be able to tell you right away,,, a half teaspoon full of aquuas iodine in their water would do no harm
  22. they seem to be racing ok at the weight they are,, but by adding a few pea nuts will increase there weight,,, if theres any need to lol,, good luck
  23. well done to all concerned ,, great sale,,
  24. the most usual time birds will leave the maize is when feeding youngsters,,, also there are different times of the year when they will go off maize, they will usually eat more maize in cold weather[maize producing heat] than in hot weather,, but if the maize is sound and fed in a well balanced diet, they should eat it ok, ,, but there are birds that will prefer one grain to another, thats why many feed the grains separately,
