    WEE-PEG

well done wee peg ,, def. man of the future,,,,, best of luck
  3. i voted no,, but it sure helps ;D
  4. neither for or against ets, ,,,but cant help smiling at the clock that was on show at the pigeon history exhibition, i cant remember the make, but the size,,, ;D youd need a wheelbarrow to take it to the club ;D,, then as a young lad[after running to local fancier with rubber [4mins per mile you were allowed ;D ;D [roger bannister hadnt even done that then ;D] i got the SMALL ;D type,,,,, ;D ;D a toulet ;D,,,,, which i had to walk about 4 miles from gilmerton to newton village , it was light going there [when you thought you had the winner] but comming back after you found out you were last ,, it was very very heavy indeed [so was my heart ;D] thank goodness weve at least progressed from there ;D ;D ;D
  5. i suppose ,to be honest ,, if you knew your birds well, you could tell a lot by the birds throat being healthy or not,, same as the eyes , but its just another indicator of health and top form , but i think the action and behaviour of the bird tells you more
  6. ive had loose droppings ok,, ;D ;D ;D went through about 6 toilet rolls ;D ;D ;D i think we must remember theres many types of canker in a pigeon 20 odd, anyway
  7. i found you could use a lot of tricks for the shorter races, but the longer races ,less work [ie races ] and calmer cocks paired up later
  8. i used to keep a few w, hood cocks for the short races, and b4 the racing started , showed them the hens , then basketed them, took the 3 miles "approx" singled each bird up,,at first they would fly round for a while but when they were making a bee line home let the next one off, then repeated this , after a few times doing this , i could let each cock out , it wouldnt even circle, when i saw its tail allmost dissapearing let the next off and so on ,, these birds could actualy see the bird in front and was actualy racing it ,,,it was awkward at first , but after a few times i could do this in minutes , when i got home i let them in to the hens, when they had the hang of it, i would do this just b4 basketing
  9. yes batusai maybe explain a little more in what you mean, would be interested to find out
  10. i think the rspb do not tell the truth, or more to the point ,dont know the truth,,,,,they are utterly one sided when it comes to perigrines , releasing them to breed where THEY want is not natural
  11. birdwatchers , who gathered to see a rare swallow on the angus coast were horrified , when they saw it snatched and eaten by a perigrine , they headed for lunan bay as word spread of a bird that was last seen frequently 20 years ago,,,,,,but the red rumped swallows which flew 1000,s of miles ,to get there probably with a mate, are no more because of the perigrine ,,,,,,,,,,nature brought these lovely little birds in ,,,,,and the rspb, destroyed them ,,,,,with their artificial spread of perigrines ,,,,, this is not the balance of nature
  12. bird facts,,,the dive or swoop of a perigrine has been timed at 180 m.p.h.

  19. yes, remember that pigeon very well , that was a g son of clive 76[one in a million ] wooff bros and son ,new ollerton,,,,a pigeon related to 4737 won the louella car[ national ] for mr. mrs. philips of truro the same year as sir colin was 2cnd open nantes national :)for me ,,,,co- incidence 11 flights on one side
  20. very well done to the lad , seems to have flown exceptionaly well.
  21. checked the stool ;D ;D ;D it was a wee pink one with 3 legs ;D ;D ;D,,,,,,,no but seriously think your spot on
  22. sir colin,,,[my £5000 winner ;D], on odd occasions through an eleven flighted bird ,,and these birds often scored well , and funnily enough , they were 11 flighted on one wing only :-/
  23. this is very true sammy, in fact jack [a real character, i knew quite well] swore blind he took it himself :)now whether this was true or not,,,,but if you remember jack ,he never had a grey hair on his head
  24. with due respect sammy , i think if you had the droppings tested would tell you more i.e if you can see the canker down the throat, its been" incubating" it for a while b4. , chances are ,by this time it would have some secondry infection which would show up in the droppings , but i agree with you on canker, a swab test would be advisable in this case , but the post is regarding the theorie of the throat,i,e the curtain etc, which to me is less important , than the quality of the droppings
  25. good post and very true
