  13. i have raced darkness yb,s right through to yb nat approx 280 miles stopped the natural ybs at 100 miles only differance was i had more natural ones left ;D but as yearlings made no differance [but wouldnt put yearlings in a basket till the weather was warm in may [ this year we had a good april but rubish since ;D] kept training natural ybs though
  14. yb racing so unpredictable nowadays would tend to start stopping some after being well trained and about 4 races [so many each week] depending how returns were
  15. i think feeding yb in a dowelled feeder with a lid on top , then after feeding put galley pots of water in the feeder , this does train them to poke their heads through the dowels [same as baskets] for a drink ,,,but taking the drinkers away i wouldnt advise as they would retain their food in their crop till they had a drink ,,,if this was too close to basketing ,they would most probably bring it up and be worse off
  16. i apologise isaid that wrong in my post ,, this was more for cure rather than prevention but vaccinations can be had [salmonella, paratyphoid the same ]
  17. whether you pay £500 or get a gift bird ,, the main thing is the management of the birds

    Weather

not looking good for sat, but the weather men have been wrong a lot this year ,, pouring here yesterday but not too bad today
  19. nobilis seemingly have a vaccine for this but only on vets prescription,,but antibiotics that may help would be aureomycin [soluble or tablet 25mgm ] teramycin again on prescript. there is also a sal-bac paratyphoid vaccine , but difficult to get ,,acid loft dressing for loft or sani-coop,,,but vets advice really
  20. noblis make many vaccines , paramyxo salmonella paratyphoid, bird flu etc etc i take ie the one you will use is" nobilis nobivac " for paramyxo [meningitis mentioned, can cause difficulty for pigeon fanciers?? as pigeons cannot catch meningitis directly [these posts can be found on the web without being a member, will pm later and explain ,,,jimmy
  21. no, your quite right tammy nobivac is for paramyxo,,but if you look up www.provet.co.uk or just nobilis and bird flu

  23. there is no vaccine for meningitis in pigeons ,,, the vaccines mentioned in the above posts are noblis for bird flu and columbovac for paramyxovirus
  24. even if you dont have a microscope its cheaper to have their droppings tested than pay for" cure" that is going to tear their guts out maybe unnecessary
