  1. peter cormack wynchburgh,, allthough stopped racing now ,, has kept some of his favourites ,,,peter [i think] was on the blue riband rennes result , every year for [i think ] 30 years [some doing], not in the best position , but had the best scottish long distance blood going ,,and the management to go with it
  2. well done craig for the info
  3. started in millerhill club in 1953 j white and son ,,my father, geordie bain ,stuart mckay first brought up the idea of a gilmeron club ,, g h c came to life in 1956 , when we had about 42 members ,,,,today i think 10 ,,,makes one think :-/ , we were proud enough to boast we had 4 national winners and two national seconds
  4. agree entirely,, put this on b4 [[ laughed at me ;D]] old fashioned :-/ :-/ :-/ at least the pigeons drink their full quota of water with this added ,,,more than what can be said about newer to high concentated stuff , which to my mind would do more harm than good
  5. yes i do the same,, as soon as i see them coorie in [cuddle in] together , i think, in fact , it encourages them
  6. this is pefectly true , but if somebody had missed the hawk and injured the pigeon,,,,,nothing would happen,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, this is" not" nature in the raw ,, its rspb setting up nest boxes for the perigrines in most cities now,,, not at all natural ,, it may be a feral that time , but , between that perigrine, its mate , their offspring , their off spring ,etc etc., there will be many racing pigeons killed, not by a hawk killing one ,, the rest with sheer fright will be injured badly flying into all and sundry ,, loosing all their homing faculties
  7. new one?
  8. looking good stu, youll need to put the finished pic up looks as though , theres plenty work put in there ;D
  9. yes congratulations, in order she might have gave you a dozen yb,s along with the telegram ;D ;D ;D happy birthday
  10. i have also heard of this ,, but some hens are born with" more egg folicals than" others,,,,but i have noticed , that long distance birds with top class constitution , breed to a riper age and can live to a ripe old age ,, my freind tam mcleod had a hen who scored 4 times over 500 miles lived until she was 22 years old and as far as i know filled eggs at 14 :-/
  11. how far does a family stretch ,,my mother,s , mother,s sisters brother is father to eddie baker lord mayer of huyton ,,hes blood related to me , but could i call him my family ;D ;D ;D ;D,,,no i dont think so , as we could then go on forever ;D all pigeons are mongrels , whether we like it or not ;D but some are expertly, selectively bred, to produce good pigeons to my mind family does not come into the equasion :-/ :-/ :-/
  12. :) i say that they will hatch, , [hope so ;D] nature usually makes sure of that let us know in 18 days ;D good luck
  13. y b,s looking tip top ,, very contented looking ,,lovely pics,,
  14. eggxacctly ;D
  15. maybe let the public know HOW they kill the pigeons
  16. you often find yb ,s returning at this time of the year,, maybe nature telling them ,,,breeding ,,back to old loft have had the odd one come back without a ring on , but must admit, not many ,, i think it could possibly be kids ,,,or the ignorant
  17. i had a hen that laid shelless eggs ,, every time,, i asked armand scheers [gardens brother ;D] in broken english , he said "some thing wrong with its egg laying machinary" ive only had one hen like that in a lifetime ,,no they wont hatch
  18. yes ,, and really just for mating purposes [inbreeding etc ] but better off fanciers you know and trust

  22. took me longer ;D ;D i was told by an avian vet , that through years of misuse of antibiotics that new variations of desease are forming in pigeons beating some antibiotics ,i,e yb sickness etc ,, same as misuse of antibiotics in humans after decades , has produced this mrsa infection that can beat most antibiotics,, i must admit allthough i dont like using antibiotics , but if i was told by a vet that it may save an old fav. well , i think i would try it ,as a last resort ,, but its the old story ,,,kick against nature and it,ll kick back
