Grunters are only alerting other pigeons of danger. Means fk all to the calibre of the pigeon. If its wild put it in a nest box and handle every day you go in. Get it eating out your hand in nest box, no feed elsewhere, only your hand.

I remember when I was in the Midland fed Colin. It was the Thursday before the yb Open race and my birds were let out around 6pm, they got a spook and they flew right into the night. I could hear them swoosh by in the pitch dark.I was crapping myself about what damage would be done to them with wires etc. I got up early in the morning and they were dots in the sky. By 7am I had them all in and they were completely knackered. I fed them up as much as I could and darkened them down. I watched them fall asleep on the perches. I woke them up again in the afternoon ( 3.30pm) with a light feed again. Could I go to the race ??? I picked the best 8 ybs and sent them, the race turned out a disaster with a head wind in poor weather and very few homed on the night. I had 5 on the first page ( top 25) of the Open result. Food for thought Colin, are we too soft on them?? atb this weekend m8

What about a secret ballot when you apply to join a club, now theres an injustice and cowardous behaviour from supposed grown men. I applied this year to join C...... RPC , Glasgow fed, and they had a secret ballot to vote on my application.( I don't think this is legal ??) Most of the members were friends of mine in a previous club too. Ridiculous, childish behaviour imo

Nothing to do with the weather imo.Your first round are on natural darkness, being bred so early and acting like latebreds,( not throwing flights but still renewing body feathers) your 2nd round are just like normal spring ybs, moulting as normal.

Ive only ever sent yearlings across the water twice and once with a latebred. One yearling was 1st open Sartilly West Coast Combine in a north wind, 15 half hours on wing 510 miles. ( NEVER RACED AS A YB )The latebred was timed 7.25pm from YPRES. THEY VE EITHER GOT IT OR THEYVE NOT If I was sitting with a big team I would be making sure they earn there perch
