You maybe right Lewis, maybe Bosworth would be close though? Ellis was a master of the distance game without a doubt. I remember going to the late Ian McGhies loft in Newmains and spotted a wee ugly red ch hen sitting amongst all these beautiful pigeons that Ian had at the time.We were exchanging ybs and he asked me what I wanted mine off.I told him I thought the red ch was the ugliest f...er id ever seen and I know it wasn't in the loft for no reason so id like one from it.He said it was his no1 stock hen, bred by Jock Ellis and she had bred all his best 400-600 mile winners.Food for thought when you are looking through his birds up for sale, looks aren't everything lol.

Very true Brian and I think you could find a very good pigeon in almost every loft, not just the well known ones.

He's had a great start m8, it's how you deal with the many disappointments that distance races bring that determines if you've got it or not lol

Some of his yearlings go to 514 Mls and Dorin is a friend of mine and has had great success at extreme distance this year although just started in sport, he has the enthusiasm that's needed.514 Mls in London is equal to Ypres here Geo

Geo, that 40 or 60 mile makes a difference m8.I would send any yearling to Ypres 456 mls or even Sartilly 510 mls but wouldn't send them to 550mls ( Gold cup ). Im not sure how it works but I can only go by experience into the west section.Its a different beast again when you go over 600 miles, your asking a pigeon to fly 2 inland nationals back to back.
