When the pigeon or any bird lands on a chimney pot with a gas fire that vents through the chimney will find this happens alot. the gas fumes from the fire make the bird dizy and he falls in. try and keep your birds off the house roof and get a cap or some wire mesh over the pot. just pulling the fire out the bird should drop down to the light after 30mins or so, normaly your chimney will have a ledge the bird will fall on abought a metre up. glad you got him out

dont gat a poor quality glass its a waste of money get a good one from the start. dont get one from mm or B&R because the quality isnt good enough get a 15x if you can i finally got a 15x Swiss-Bergeon and it far better than the ones i got from the pigeon shops http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Quality-Swiss-Bergeon-12X-Eye-Loupe-No-1458A-1_W0QQitemZ8934680026QQihZ004QQcategoryZ117039QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

oh yeah theres no way it will go up it will not fly in a chimney ;D

most fires have a ledge about 5ft up and youll find the bird on there, dunno what your chim is like maybe different. The fire service would not really be able to help unless its near the top, wich i doubt, the only equipt they have for pigeon rescue is a ladder, if you think that they may be able to help you then ring your county up on a local line and ask advice, not the 999 number. i can tell you that derbyshire frs would not charge for somthing like this, your county maybe different. some fires have a trap door half way up or in the loft or out side. Think about getting the chimney covered for next time. This is the reason most fanciers dont have the birds on roof tops. If my birds are not flying then they are in the loft. the birds dont go on rooftops or chimneys. this only happens if the birds are out a while . hope you get him down he will drop down to the light at the bottom

Thats just rubbish and not needed and will stress the bird. One chance only if you miss it wont be back under that box. All you need do is put the corn in a shed with the door open and walk it in. just be slow in your movements and learn the bird to trust you. good luck

wings, sorry to hear this. race them hard next year for your mum, and think what you would do if you dont race the birds. all the best

nice and dry but windy at melbourne south derbyshire nr east midlands airport

central derby fed marlborough 09:45 strong north west wind

some clubs you can only take the first two or 3 places but time the rest in for the fed. but if someone has all them birds before you then you need to work harder to win, some people want to win but dont want to work for it

i rang them and they said you dont need any permission, so its best you do the same. your house deeds are most important because if you live in a new house etc the your not allowed the keep pigeons and chickens etc you dont need planning permision for a shed!!!!!!!!! only for a building that is within 5metres of your house etc thats what they told me

STOP PRESS - STOP PRESS 24th July 2006 Racing Conditions post 31st July 2006 I have spoken to DEFRA today (Monday 24th July) concerning the licence conditions after the 31st July. I am told that the current licence conditions will be revoked on 31st July and replaced with the previous licence conditions that permitted us to race from within the UK only. I have nevertheless asked DEFRA to consider adding the Channel Islands to the ‘within the UK’ list which would at least give the young birds an opportunity to race across some water this season. I shall know more about this later in the week and so will post further info on the RPRA website as and when I hear. The DEFRA website with the licence conditions ‘should alter on 31st July’ I am told. Peter Bryant General Manager http://www.rpra.org/
