  1. im not saying there wont be some real top class gems in them of course there will be and the genes will carry forward in some that for sure all im saying is we cant pick the top racers or breeders ive seen so many bad good looking birds some of these birds may go back 4 or more generations without seeing a basket and its not ideal when buying in new stock im sure you bought your birds in the 70s apart from being janssens but on there recent racing performances im hot having a dig at the birds no other family of birds has made a mark on racing pigeons like they did even other strains that have come into the country under other names its unreal when you think about it also with the price that these will fetch more than likely the owners will not race the children as the price would be too high so your looking at a further 2 generations before they see a race all adds up to maybe 6 or 7 generations before they seen a race basket video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nitbOMZ24mI
  2. no but previous stock was picked on winning pigeons where they dont have that marker to choose from today
  3. as far as i know there either 24 or 27 old birds up for auction and 2 youngsters not sure of the ages tbh but they will make 1 hell of a lot of money collectors items they will be seen as its a long time since one seen a race basket though had a grandchild of one there more recent famous birds hes making compost now
  4. would they still have the winning genes that long out of the basket
  5. just been saying the same thing in pm lol only 5 mins ago to oy it maybe true as van loon himself was a very private man that did not want the limelight like the janssens had his results were every bit as impressive as the famous bros
  6. think most went to jannssen as it added something there family as they were so close bred all revolving around from the the blue of 48 and the bange of 51 which produced the bange of 59 in the early days these birds would be found numerous amount of times in peds of the great racers of jannssens
  7. welcome and enjoy :emoticon-0137-clapping:
  8. they flew longer once or twice but there birds dominated the longer races in Holland especially the likes of jan grondelars who probably in the top 3 fanciers ever in belg always introduced sprint birds to his longer distance family as his theory was that top winning sprint birds had to have excellent homing instincts pros roosen done something the same with his soontjens introducing the Chateauroux and few others only to dominate the middle distance results like never seen before bart and luc Geerinckx done the same thing with soontjens crossing them to dominate longer races leo hermens switched practaily the same birds from sprint to longer races to winning in the top combine in belguim there just a few geo food for thought on moving forward with a family of pigeons i tend to agree that so called sprint birds can compete on the longer races crossed they should have no problem at all
  9. i was surprised the herbots bros did not get the sale i think they were the vendor for jannssens for years
  10. Louis is hitting the 100 mark now i would think maybe its just his time to let his birds go he gave the pigeon world the greatest family of birds the world has ever seen thought other people may have been involved in the sale but he has gone to the biggest auction house in the world the unfortunate thing is that many of these birds will go to the far east
  11. all birds being sold on pipa the end of the legend
