bang on ronnie i have already said this ,the poultry industries in this country will always get this problem around easter and christmas through over production of poultry ,cheaper to infect a flock then go bankrupt . i would like to see defras risk assesments of poultry entering this country from other eec countries.espeacily in the time where expecting this so called pandemic . i would also like to know why certain bird establishments have guarentees there birds would not be destroyed in a event of a massive bird flu out break in this country. this is all aload of crap in my opinion, scare mongering to bring in licenses to everyone who owns birds ,like the id card system load of crap just another way of getting more money from people. the goverment know there going to be paying millions each year to the poultry business thats why old hilary benns going to tell them in future no payments for infected poultry ,that will kill the outbreaks in the poultry business. but i bet you a dollar the goverment say the turkeys already slaughtered by these companies are safe to eat for christmas , like when madcows disease first came about ,if buying a turkey for christmas ask for a vets certificate to say its safe to eat, i bet you dont get one

Second H5N1 case found in turkeys Last Updated: Monday, 19 November 2007, 18:12 GMT - Search: Bird Flu outbreak A second bird flu outbreak has been confirmed, Defra saidA second case of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu has been found in turkeys in a farm on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said. The farm was one of four where culls were taking place because of fears of "dangerous contact" with the initial case at Redgrave Park Farm, discovered last week. All 9,000 turkeys have already been slaughtered at the new infected premises, which is operated by the same company as the site of the first outbreak. The site of the new infection, Hill Meadow Farm, Knettishall, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, is outside the original 3km protection zone set up around Redgrave Park farm, but inside the wider restricted area which covers Suffolk and much of Norfolk. Defra said the birds appeared healthy when they were first inspected, but a precautionary cull was completed on Saturday. Acting chief veterinary officer Fred Landeg said: "The laboratory test results highlight the importance of poultry keepers in the area being extremely vigilant. "It is essential they practise the highest levels of biosecurity and report any suspicions of disease to their local animal health office." A new 3km protection zone has been set up around the farm, and an extended surveillance zone which surrounds both sites has also been established

albear i dont know the answer to that one maybe one of the organisers could answer why jos birds where sold and the back bone of any show be it stall holders showmen /woman cannot have any . i take it they will have strongly put a case forward for these birds to be sold at auction and forgot about the backbone of the shows .
-
i have no problem helping anyone foriegners who ever needs help ,but i think charity starts at home ,but sadly it always seems as though the british man /woman just get treated like idiots all the time ,if they tell you long enough you will believe it .weapons of mass destruction ,global warming ,and another thousand stealth taxes ,bird flu pandemic ,but remember one shot of tammy flu will cure you RIGHT. WE ARE ALL TREATED LIKE MUSHROOMS KEPT IN THE DARK AND COVERED IN SXXT

excellent mate , i love to see clean lofts ,a credit to you ;D
-
sadly this will be the start of things to come ,will stall holders return year after year when there takings are down and cannot make any profit . the auctioner of jos birds will in his eyes have been the main attraction for people attending the sale £50.000 for a days work . the poor british stall holders trying to make ends meet at these events have been kicked in the teeth. these people support the shows year in year out but for how much longer. but sadly with this bird flu hn51 in my opinion will always be about ,espeacily in the poultry business with unfilled orders of millions of birds each year ,do you feed them for nothing and go bankrupt or do you get bird flu and make a fortune . this poultry business will kill pigeon racing in my opinion as i believe we will always get outbreaks around easter and christmas time the main business for the poultry industries . how long before defra make it law where expensive licenses must be had before your allowed to keep any bird in the british isles . :'( :'(

i had this problem years ago the neighbour worried about the birds and her washing ,i asked her what days she washed ,she thought i was a nutter ;D i told her my birds would not leave the loft when she had her washing out on sundays ,shes aware birds race saturdays wednesdays ,she always asks me if birds are racing should she hang out clothes on a saturday ,i always reply hang them out no problem . since she moved next door to me in over twenty years she has never once complained and this works very well between us , maybe if you do the same ,then she will know its not your birds ,and she will be more then happy with that

£30.00 for a pigeon off a outstanding performance pigeon of 23x1st prize winner ,where would you get a bargain like that ,thats the pedigree there alone 23x1st , yes i would also ask if it had bred winners ,but i would also buy the pigeon if i bought pigeons. i can assure you people dont sell young birds from big winners for £30.00 and no disrespect ment to you spencer but ,im sure your other birds for sale this coming season will not be sold for £30.00 from birds with no where near the wins of this pigeon. people will spend thousands on birds with no near the performance of this pigeon if it had a forign ring on it or this bird was down the line in the pedigree .

Pigeon Pox Cause and Symptoms- Pigeon pox is caused by a virus that is generally carried by mosquitoes and other biting insects. When a nonresistant pigeon is bitten by a carrier parasite, the virus enters the bloodstream of the bird, and within five to seven days, small whitish wart-like lesions appear on the head, feet legs and beak areas. These deposits can grow to become large yellowish bumps which, if removed, may ooze blood. In time, these lesions will dry and fall off, so it is our advice to leave them alone. Prevention - Other than using the pigeon pox vaccines, no remedy is acceptable. Controlling the mosquito and fly populations in and around one's loft may be helpful, but the only sure way to prevent pox is to vaccinate

ed are you using this for intestinal worms or are you trying to enhance acid contennts of other adatives to keep lice off pigeons or to enhance the feather quality

one or two drops into the mouth is the best way

Pigeon Pox: Pox is a viral disease that is very common in young birds. Most pigeon flyers are very familiar with what the disease looks like. It produces raised, yellow, scabby lesions usually on the featherless parts of the body such as beak, legs, and eye cere. It also can be in the mouth. These lesions are firmly attached to the skin and hard to peel off. When exposed the birds will develop a fever and feel a little off before they break out with lesions. If you get it in your young birds just before or during the season you will have major problems with performance. It is highly recommended that you vaccinate your birds with the Maine Biological Labs vaccine or the Belgian pox vaccine. A good easy way to vaccinate is to take three 20 gauge syrine needles and push them through a cork to where the tips are right next to each other. Dip them in the vaccine and *expletive removed* the skin on the featherless part of the breast about 1/2 inch off of the keel. Just barely puncture the skin with the needles a couple of times. You will get about 100% takes and can pox a lot of pigeons very quickly. The vaccine also goes a lot farther this way. Be sure to vaccinate at least 6 weeks before race season or training your youngsters with other unvaccinated birds as your birds will be contagious as long as they have a scab where you vaccinated them.
