Try nailing carpet gripper to the top of your cages were the cat was sat, it may work, giving them a real good scare normally puts them off coming into the garden

I have had pigeons now for only 2 seasons. so i'am not really an auithority on them, I looked at this particular pigeon and compared it to my other stock cocks, and took into account what i had been told a fancier that is helping me (he has been racing pigeons for 47 years) i wasn't 100% sure about it so i asked my friend to have a look and he confirmed what i had thought, he told me that he would not breed from it. so that was good enough for me. I have been told by many people to take advice from the best fancier in the area so i have. I'am going to try and break it to my loft in the new year any tips. Thanks everyone for your comments Wings PS i haven't breed anything from this bird,

sorry i don't know if they do have a policy for changing birds. i was told if it had been only a couple of weeks they would have changed it but as i said i was out of the country

Hi Everyone in August i bought 2 pigeons from louella pigeon (over the Internet) i had studied there pedigrees and thought that they might be good birds, before the pigeons arrived i was sent to the Falklands with my Job. i spent 3 months there. When the birds arrived my wife put them in the stock loft. When i returned 3 months later i looked at the birds and thought that 1 was ok and the other wasn't so i phoned Louella up and asked if they would change the bird as i didn't like it and it was not what i was expecting. They refused to change the bird as i had had it for such a long period. What are peoples thoughts on this, I'am not really complaining as some of the fault was my own for not contacting somebody at home to see what the birds were like. just would like peoples thoughts on the matter.

i have had numerous attacks on young birds this year, as luck has had it i have only lost 2. all the birds are locked up now so i won't lose any more to them this year, but who knowa what will happen next year. they seem to be getting more plentifull by the year.

Anybody seen any Song Thrushes

Vic it could be a young Peregrine i think they are a light colour until they mature properly. Most Peregrines make there way to the coast at the end of the breeding season so hopefully you won't be bothered with it or them for long. i have had 2 round my loft and they were light browm. they were around for about a week or so but have now disapeared thank God.

I've only been racing pigeons for about 18 months. This year i breed 36 young birds, i missed the first 2 races because of work and other commitments, but i was training my birds up to 30 miles so not concerned about missing the 2 races as they were only 49 and 60 miles i entered the next race with 24 young birds i lost 3 but finished 3rd club. since then my young birds have had the sickness and the weather has been that bad i have been reluctent so send them. I have now stopped them and from doing any more races this year. My question to anybody out there is do you think that stopping the young birds so early will stop them from doing well as yearlings. and will the distance be a problem because the haven't raced over 70 miles.
